Mig Welding To Your Car..

hi this may come accross as a stupid question but i need to mig weld someting to the chassy and do some slight mods to my exhaust. i can do it all my self the question i have is:

i know you need to disconnect your battery but do i need to buy an anty zap thing as well? or will i get away with just disconnecting the battery? to stop my computer or any other electrics frying?

Make sure the earth clamp is directly connected to the piece you are welding, ie not at the back of car when welding on the front, so the current only runs through the work piece area, if your really worried disconnect the ECU.

the exhaust shop i worked at had what we refered to as 'condoms'. they are a surge protector type thing. they just clamped onto the battery terminals. probably a bit expensive if its a 1 off thing.
