The other day after washing my car I returned to my appartment to find my storage cage in the under ground secure car park had been broken into, and all 4 17" Advan RG's were stolen. They also all had new rubber on them :D.

I had them in there as I was going to get them re-rolled after an accident I had with them. Three of them need re-rolling and one of those three is cracked and buckled. I did however find a place which could fix that crack and re-roll them for me and I was looking forward to doing that.

If anyone sees any Gold 17" Advan RG's around for sale could they let me know.

that sucks, but at least they were stolen before you fixed them....would have been worse if you had spent the $$ to get them fixed and then they were stolen...

haha, the thieves probably thought they were getting mint condition mags, they'll get a shock later on :D

Does your bodycorp insurance cover any theft from the carpark?

That was gonna be my qn too as it's kinda on "common property" down there, although on a techincality, it may be considered your property being the apartments storage area.

Being out of sight, there's a fair chance the thief MAY be an associate of resident in your block.

There was a burgular in the apartments next to my work last week.

Followed a car in through rolladoor, disarmed door panel so he didn't get locked in, sprayed paint over camera lenses & broke into the cars in the underground car park.

OMG Mic,

So sorry to hear this seeing as I used to live in the same building and we used to park next to each other.

Their were some guys in my section of the building that used to admire my car and were obviously aware of japanese cars. They were always checking out my car when I pulled up and had talked to me about it a couple of times. They would be the only suspects I could think of and I don't really want to point the finger either. I would do a door knock and flyer drop, I would also suggest you look into my section of the building the second yellow door at the front where the entrance to apartment 24 & 25 are.

My storage container was right next to yours and I stored all my stock parts and 4 x S15 rims with tyres and 4 x S14 rims with tyres and spare tread. This would suggest it would be someone new to the building because if they had been living there previously they would've stolen all my stuff as well.

best bet would be to do the idea Kam said... put a flyer in the window or make those shops aware that stolen property might cross their path... They have to fix them or they're useless to them. Plus selling damaged rims gets you a very little return. At least they wont make money out of this... the pieces of shit that they are

.... they weren't on the car?

How sure of that are you?

Now, let's suppose one of the theives knew a thing or two about cars.

Is it not possible that they saw that one was damaged, and decided to see if they rolled right?

Is it not possible that they decided to do so by trying them on a car?

Is it not possible that they chose the nearest available (i.e. yours)

Is it not possible that they happened to have a tyre iron with them (they had to pry their way intot the secure cage somehow)

Is it not possible that they put the rims on the car, just to make sure that they rolled right, and fit on the car properly?

Therefore, is it not possible that you would, in fact be covered by insurance?

Of course, it's also possible that the rims were never taken off the car, but infact were stolen from the car itself.

    • From the pictures I have when doing the job the flywheel is the same diameter, I don't think they're playing weird tricks like putting weights at the outer diameter to increase flywheel inertia or anything like that. The OEM flywheel is definitely heavier, but it's not a huge difference. Quoted weight savings of the clutch is 2 kg so I can't imagine the flywheel being lighter than ~7 kg. Kind of regret not weighing it before the clutch went into the car but as far as driveability goes I have no complaints.
    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
