Rb Cranks Forged Or Cast?

Just wanted to know if they RB cranks (RB26 and RB30) are forged or cast? I would also be interested in knowing what people do to prep them.

cast and regarding preping well depends what your intended use is

Intended use is a street/drag egine in a GTR. Want to make 800-900bhp and turn it to 8500rpm

The guy at the machine shop said my rb26 crank is forged steel.

I don't know for sure but he seemed to know whay he was talking about.

The only prep I had done was a oilpump collar, linishing and a balance but I'm only aiming for half that power.

okay it seems that they are forged, so what prepping to people do? as stated i want to build a Rb26/30 and turn it to 8500rpm with a target of 900hp

besideds that its the bits that hang of the crank that make a rb30 rev that high safely

I am building an rb26/30 with almost that amont of power in mind, i removed all the unnecesary metal between the journals with an angle grinder with a grinding disc, then knife edged and rounded the leading edges of the counterweights, then went over the whole thing(except the journals) with a sanding flap disc on the angle grinder. Then i had the crank machined for a collar. Had it cryogeniced, then ground and finally, the whole lot balanced.
