I dont think its that simple. I tried to get a remote key but the cost for the key was like $180 and about $200 to programme it. I just got a Patrol blankand had two ordinary keys cut.

When I had my Subaru I was quoted $450 + progromming. Good luck.

nissan remotes can be programmed yourself by following some steps, so thats not a prob, of course dealers would never tell you that.

Just get in your vech , close all doors. Using your power lock switch , lock all doors. After doors are locked take your Ignition Key and insert it and remove it from ignition switch in a slow fashion , but consitant pace. (97 and earlyer are fast) When you see the hazzard lights flash, put key in ignition switch and turn to the On postion .. Do NOT CRANK or you will have to Start over .. After in the On postion .. Hit the Lock button on remote... Hazzard lights should flash..( note..you have to reprogram all remotes when adding a new one , if you don't your old remotes will not work ) If your doing just the one , turn igntion switch off and unlock door and get out and try it. If you are doing more than one. While still in Vech with Key on . After you hit the Lock button on Remote and hazzard light flashed .. with key still on .. use master lock switch unlock doors and relock and then hit Second Remote, Lights should flash again , repeat if adding a 3rd remote.. after done just turn key off and unlock door and get out and try.

Hi Chool,

i assumu this works only with a nissan keyless entry and not the aftermarket keyless entry?

I just got my car (still in compliance) and i noticed that i was given only a niismo key and nothing else. Now the car obviously have an alarm system and an immobiliser (a red lights blinking on the dash) and got no remote. Can i follow you instructions and get a partol remote and reprogram it that way? If not i will have to replace the whole thing which i not keen on? Thanks buddy

yeah, this is only a nissan thing, if its aftermarket you might be out of luck. is yours a Series2 ? depends on what modifications were made, if keyless entry is still factory system. best to try someone elses keyless key first before buying.

Does anyone know which model patrol key works ? the stagea part # is 80600N

There was athread on this before.

The Patrolblank I got cut was in a keyplace in Aust. Fair Southport.

The same blank fits my S1, Rmr30 plus the lboys S13 and 180.

It seemed in previous discussions that the key numbers were ground off most that came in.

Mine is a series1 98' mdl. You mean taje sinedodyelse's nissan remote key and try ut? As far as i know the ingition (where you insert the key to start the car) patrol and nissan navara and infitis are exactly the same . I've seen it sam type of ignition. Sont know wheter it uses the same balnk or not though.

I ahve actually asked my autelec this afternoon about this. He asked me to look for the brand of the alarm fisrt under the bonnet the control box should be twice the size of a cigarrete box. If we can get the brand in oz then we are in luck (note this is for after alarm system & keyless entry). if not have to replace the system but still using the existing wiring therefore save abit on the labor itself. I have to check it when i get my car back or go to the compliance place on frinday to check it out. Cos the insurance company requires an imobiliser to be installed(at least) before they can activate the polucy. My car actually have both alarm system and immobilser not sure about keyless since i dont have the remote yet.

Btw when i close the trunk at the back i notice after slamming it shut theres a motor sound after that. What dos that do actually?

That's right, when you close the boot there's no need to slam it, just lower it until you hear the first click (like when you half-close your bonnet or a car door), and the motor pulls it closed properly.

    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure

    • Picked up a new OEM boot seal for the MX5 today as the old one got ripped a bit by me being a idiot by seeing if I could fit a large metal tool box in it, it didn't fit, and ripped the seal with the corner of the tool box I am still waiting on time to get the cams and new balancer installed, as well as the repairs to the boot Time will not be an issue soon though
