I am with Shannon's GTR33 - VSPEC $1200 a year full comp Rating 1 with windshield replacement and $300 excess

BTW I am 26 years of age

But my insurance is on my car for it not being a daily driver, just a weekend car or club events, if you don't drive your car much then Shannon's will lower the cost.

Great deal....

I called Shannons to increase my agreed value ...they said i have to visit them for an appraisal.

Then I called just car to make sure the deal was good....... :D same premium....$1700 excess

over $1000 dollars more...and they will not insure my stereo...whats that about? :D

Anyway........I drive everyday and am happy to pay Shannons $1340(approx)......for fully comp

on an agreed $35000 with the free windscreen...if i need it......

thats good to know! as im told the cheaper aftermarket windscreens that people normally replace with are softer, and chip a lot easier...

im not planning on taking shannons up on their offer unless neccessary though...my windscreen is fine (so far :()

I think you missed the point of wanting a genuine R32 windscreen.

Its not that they are harder to chip, its the fact that the radio won't work anymore with a non-genuine windscreen! :)

well i have an R33 so i dont really care about that :(

the stereo/windscreen in the R32 would equal to about half the worth of the car wouldnt it Dezz??

Woah thats gonna stir up the 32 lovers!

Go the 33!

Anyway, if your car has a genuine Nissan screen with factory antenna running through it, then thats what it would be replaced with.

I was just thinking today...if it is better not to over insure?

I mean just say you have a large collision..(Knock on wood) ...and the insured value of your

R34 GTT is $45,000 ........you would not want them to fix it....but they will because its cheaper.

Here you are thinking great(not really)......get $45,000 put in another $15,000 and pow...R34GTR

And two weeks later they bring your car back with creaks and rattles and you know it should have been

written off.

It cost them $38,000 to fix even though it was $10,000 over the market value.(This is hypothetical)

Anyway i think Ill keep my agreed value........I am not upping it.....I have first choice to buy the thing.

if the repairs were dodgy, i'd be taking it back and they'd be redoing it properly. thats why you go with choice of repairer, which JCI dont offer. they basically sell your job to the workshop who will do it cheapest

Shannons will guarantee any repairs done to your vehicle after a claim for the LIFE OF THE VEHICLE, yes even after it has been sold on.....

I know that.

But who would want their car on a stretch machine for 2 weeks i am sure it would be fatigued

and you would not trust in another accident.

    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
