Brake Smoke

in terms of bad on a scale of 1 to 10 how high would you rate brake smoke after some heavy braking?

Ie - If you've just been driving your car and the brakes are smoking (after heavy braking) how bad would you say it is.

Average...depends on discs and pads... when it comes down to it, thats what brakes are made for..

i wouldn't worry too much about it... however, if that happens, you should keep driving the car to let the brakes cool down... get some airflow to them... don't stop and put the handbrake on or you risk warping the rotors....

ahha i remember in my mates nissan Exa, we were driving it very hard (working doing delivery driving for a chinese restaurant) we got back to the shop one time and the heat in the rotors and pads after stopping made them burst into flames .. hahaha

i shit you not, so if it hasnt got to that point your everything will be fine, as long as you start driving again as Jason said to get everything cool, and to stop hot spots on the rotors

nah didn't crack the rotors, suprisingly. this was back when we were in year 12, so we didn't know better.

umm yeah smoke is bad you pushed a bit far I think.

I would suggest starting with getting the rotors machined, if they are still round just bleed the fluid and off you go again.

the z's brakes have got to smoking a few times but have always come up OK
