R32 Headlights

Hey all

For you R32 owners..

What Globe do you use in your headlight?

I got a new headlight for my car, and it uses H3 globes whereas my old headlight uses H1.

Has this got to do with year models?

The light has a different internal aswell.

whilest theres a thread about headlights, can someone tell me if smoked (darkened/tinted) headlights are legal? and where you can get them?

I always thought that the H1 H2 H3 H4 code referred to the bayonet fitting???

Now I need someone to explain how wrong I am............

ah crumbs i came across the answer to this one last year...i can't remember what designation the bulb was....but i do remember i got it from autobarn in fyshwick. it wasn't cheap as bulbs go.

Yea this is what i thought.

But the new headlight i got, is h3 for both high and low beam.

Earlier series 1 models (pre mid 1992 I think it was) use H1 bulbs, later models use H3.

My series one uses H3C for low beam and H3 for high beam. Tricky to find a better than standard H3C bulb for them but i've read it's not too hard to mod it to take something else. I took the easy way out and got some good H3C's from ebay!
