where have you been? Ferrari is now offical in the game!

I've been playing GT:HD v1.1 and all i can say is the game is awsome. Can't wait to see the add to GT:5 from the hd

i think people who havn't play the ps3 shouldnt commnet on it, as the system is just so good, you have to play it to see what im talking about :)

It's not that good. As is almost every console on launch.

All that GT:HD does is have pretty graphics (not that amazing anyway) and changes nothing in terms of gameplay. Heck half the sound effects are from the original game.

I bet you there won't be damage in the next gt as well.

All other ps3 launch titles have been disapointing as well. Resitance is average, the graphics moreso, COD3 is crap on all systems (way to let a series down activision) nba07 is bollocks compared to NBA2k7 and thats all i've played so far.

And no i'm not a sony hater i got my ps1 on launch on november 15th 1995, and have 2 psone's and 2 ps2's. And over 100 original titles for them both.

Also sony have just annouced they are jacking up the price of the system for some european countries, they haven't said anything officially about the launch in europe and australia.

The 6 axis is a joke and adds nothing to any of the games i've played.

8k profit or sold them for a total of 8k?

The price has come down heaps, i've seen retail stores selling them for 899 for a 60 gig japanese model.

If i didn't have so many PAL psx and ps2 games i'd get one.

Plus it has HDMI/DVI out so you can run true 1080P. Didnt bother reading the last 10 pages but my mate is seriously pissed off about the 360 not supporting that. Plus I hear that PS3's have adequate cooling and dont blow up every 5 minutes. My mate has lost 2 of them so far (360s that is) although they have been covered by warranty. I wont buy one till they are $200 cause I have spent WAY too much on my PC so far :)

whilst I was back in japan last week I check out the new final fantasy. I've never been a fan of the series but it blew me away. looks amazing.

PS3 is great. I bought one at Japanese launch last november kept it for a few months. I've sold it now as I have no time to play it and got an offer I couldn't refuse but I may get another one.

It's a fantastic system very powerful and capable. In japan a 60gb PS3 is around $700.

as for resistance being mediocre? I was hooked. and I usually bore very easily with games (hardly ever finish them).

on-line RR7 was awesome as was on-line resistance. and I was playing it just after launch and there were already plenty of games going at any hour I wanted to play them. :)

Yeah the 20gig model will become availble later on.

We recieved all the news from sony about the launch yesterday.

I don't see it being nearly as big as the wii initially. The cost is far too high. A retailer can buy 10 wii consoles for a bit over 3000, where as the same for a ps3 is gonna cost them closer to 9000 bucks.

Thats alot of money to put up considering you may not sell any for a few weeks.

Should be interesting.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well they are going to be making some money off me. I have had my PS3 pre-ordered since March last year. I just went and put 5 games on pre-order for launch and I have a Sixaxis controller and PS2 Memory card adaptor coming from Hong Kong at the moment. BRING ON MARCH 23rd!!

good man! nice to see a true sony fan, please don't hate me for having one 5 months before you though... I can speak from experience, you will love it! I bought my with just 2 games and a spare six-axis and it kept me entertained for a fair while. and man they look sexy. you will be impressed when you first pull it out of the box. I just hope the aus release ones are made in japan, but unfortunately we will probably get made in china ones

well I agree with that. they should have released here 5 months ago when they did in japan and US. that would have made a huge impact. as it is, now the hype is over, and that intense irrational need people get to buy a launch console whatever the cost will have faded.

yes most of the Aus made in china ps2 were shit. I bought a fairly early PS2 (and a whopping $700 or $800 back in the 90s) and was lucky enough to get a made in japan one, and it's been going strong and still is. it doesn't scratch disks, doesn't overheat, never had 1 single problem with it.

i had a made in jap 1st release ps2 cost about 700$ , it lasted a year and a bit :)

i think sonys handling of the ps3 , if it doesnt become popular , will be one of the greatest blunders in the history of video games. way too late and way too expensive.

historically , especially in the western markets , more expensive consoles and home computers have not fared well even if technically superior

thats not to say its going to die , its sony after all . but it will be hard to maintain the dominant market position they have enjoyed on previous generation consoles now without pulling some sort of rabit from the hat

i bought my ps2 when it was 1st rls in australia. i still have it todate and it works perfectly!!!!!

ps3 was rls about the sametime in usa as it was in jap its only europe that gets it later and us too!

personal i couldnt careless aslong as i get GT:5 and MGS:4, DMC:4 i will be happy!

so far the gt:hd is awsome love the drift mode!

I got my PS2 right after their first price drop. I remember I got it from Myers because they had a Special on it for about $550. I was too young to be able to afford that much money back then but I had been nagging my parents for one for ages so they caved and put one on layby for me. My mum also enjoys playing video games (she has now taken ownership of my old consoles so she has a SNES, Gamecube, PSone, and N64) and she likes games on all those consoles. The only old consoles she hasn't got off me yet is my PS2 and Dreamcast (give the dreamcast all the crap you want but it was a good console just for Shenmue alone).

Man after reading through that I am sounding more and more like a geek...

The main reason I didn't import a PS3 is because I still haven't researched the Blue Ray Region coding and also I have alot of PS2 games I still enjoy playing but the console will be going to my mum when I get my PS3.

Its good now being old enough to afford the stuff I want (I am 24) and I don't own a skyline yet but am looking at getting a 93 R32 GTS-T soon. Would much rather a R32 GTR (for the whole kicking ass at bathurst effect) and a R34 but I'm not rich enough for that yet :D

[Edit] My PS3 Controller is here, It is alot lighter then the PS2 Controller and the L2 and R2 buttons are rather nice as well. Seeing as though I still have 5 weeks till the PS3 is released here I am going to try connect the controller to the PC. I can confirm you can charge the controller via USB in XP and XP will see the controller as a PS3 controller but the buttons do not work. I am installing my bluetooth hub to see if I can get the buttons working over that and I will let you guys know how it goes.

[Edit] I have found drivers to get the PS3 controller working via USB and have tried them out and they do work. If anybody needs them send me a PM and I will send them to you. Also the tilt doesn't work when connected to PC just so you guys know. Am working on Bluetooth now.

lol, that's lame of them. casino royale was a shit movie, and you have to register to get it. in the US they gave away taledega nights (another shit movie) in the box. in japan they gave away bugger all, but they didn't have to as for one thing they only cost $700 and they sold out in hours anyway! as for GTHD it's already free to download and has been since christmas eve 2006. sony should have come with something decent for all the guys who've been waiting and waiting and waiting for it to be released :D

still an amazing console though, and in my eyes the most advanced and 'complete' of the current crop. It will be very interesting to see how it's received in aus next month when it's released.

    • I've sent JaseR33 a private message in the hope he gets an email and contacts you
    • I have seen a case where the starter motor shorting against the casing caused a massive voltage drop + so much EMI that it caused all the sensors to spew garbage data at the ECU. Test the battery to make sure it has acceptable CCA/capacity first, I have gotten "brand new" batteries before that couldn't even power a 10W light bulb without dying probably because it sat in a warehouse too long without being charged. Only easy way to diagnose this 100% is put an oscilloscope on the battery and also look at key sensors to see if there's any clues.
    • There's a bunch of smaller shops that don't quite attract Singer money but are still hiring from that same pool of labor. Those are the body shops that you go to when you can't afford a Singer, but your old Porsche needs some serious bodywork. You can't exactly take those cars to the usual insurance body shops. When I say restomod, I mean they'll do something other than 100% OEM/OEM-equivalent aftermarket parts R&R. In the Porsche world this would be stuff like taking a 50k 964, doing a bunch of deferred maintenance/unwinding the nightmares the previous owners did to the car because a lot of people that own these cars tended to be penny wise, pound foolish types, then maybe some relatively simple off the shelf modifications to things like suspension, transmission, engine, headlights, etc. and you've spent 130k USD. When even the worst houses in the poor neighborhoods are worth 1M USD and the nice houses in wealthy neighborhoods are worth 3-10M USD suddenly 130k spent on a 50k car seems cheap.
    • Hoping to get a few ideas to help troubleshoot this issue, I'll try to keep it short.  A mate popped the motor in his 2018 LDV T60 with the 2.8 turbo diesel motor. He swapped it and I was his phone a friend when he got stuck.  The new motor is in, however it won't fire. The battery is literally brand new, when you crank it the volts very quickly (say 2 seconds of cranking) drop to 8 volts and the engine stops turning over. Watching the belts, I'd say they move about 5cm before coming to a stop. We put a booster pack on, no change.  The only potential issue I'm aware of is, when we pulled the motor the grounding strap was still attached. The strap copped a thrashing before we realised what was going on. It looks okay-ish but it's going to be replaced to rule it out.  The main challenge is, I wasn't there for 90% of the work. This is his first time doing any major work on a car and he was learning as he was going. He thinks everything has been put back together properly, however I'm not entirely confident that this is the case.  It would be good to get some ideas about what else to check. The car isn't spitting any codes so that doesn't help.  I've attached a photo, because why not lol.
    • I mean an N1 came with a minimal paint thickness compared to dealer models. It’s probably had a ton of vinyls and stuff possible a race paintjob or two over the years. you don’t buy an N1 for its stunning good looks or comfort 🤣 you buy it to send it and measure how much air you can get on the hill at Bathurst
