Does anyone no where I could get a engineers certificate for my rims..The only thing is the width of my rims are over the legal upgrade limit allowed for my car so, I just need to find someone who will give me a certificate for them...

The only reason why i keep getting defected for my rims is because size, not the width of the rims.

I am located in Sydney, so if anyone could help me out it would be great....

I believe the rule is 2 inches larger in diameter and one inch larger in width

HOWEVER

I when I went for a pink slip at the start of the year the mechanic told me he had to clear a defect for "non standard rims" Yes thats right someone was defected because the rims were not a factory option but were within the boundaries.

here in WA you arent allowed anything over 7" wide, unless it came from the factory with wider and then you arent allowed any wider than what it came form the factory with.

also here in WA to get an engineers cert you just call the licensing dept and get a list of approved engineers and give one of them a call...

In SA, you can only go up 2" from factory, but you can go as wide as you like so long as no part of the tread of the tyre passes the outter most part of the guard (they will defect your car for being out of track if your tyres hang out of your guards).

And even with an engineers report the copps will still pull you over if you go past normal legal stndards, and be more inclinded to go right over your car for a defect.

but if they book you for anything that you have an engineers report for you can fight it and win. then they end up doing traffic duty and all the other crappy jobs for a while. i had a mate who got defected even though he had a report for it. the cop said that it didn't mean crap. so he took it to court and won. the judge said that if it has passed a engineers report (that has been done properly, not just done without looking) then there is nothing the cops can do about it. and that cop got into trouble over it.

but yes they may get out the fine tooth comb to find something to book you for.
