I was wondering if it is possible to custom make a drop tank for a Skyline R33 GTST.

Like capacity maybe I am only guessing about 90 litres. Made out of Stainless Steel=$$ or Aluminium.

Your thoughts and ideas.

I guess this scenario is for the daily work horses. Going to work and coming home. Yes I understand all the weight issues on the sat or friday night when we are in town wanting to make a spectacle of ourselves.....but this is mainly for like I said for the work horses.

I am going to come up with some designs and see how it goes. Has anyone done it before?

'cuz it lookz fully sik bro! :P

*sorry couldn't help myself :P*

Have you looked under your car? R33's have a very weirdly shaped tank, unlike the commonwhores. If you ARE only after the look, best get an aliminum cover made up with red or blue fake bracing. If that is the case i retract my appology :D

jetpilot,

A W E S O M E ! ! ! !

what a sensational idea, being an old V8 LX Hatch Back Torana man from way back, i reckon you are really onto something here!!

the Skyline already looks awesome from the rear end, but an Alloy or SS Drop Tank swingin between a set of 255's.........................man i just picture it.

i gonna search & see if it;s been done before. maybe someone with grafics experience could muster us up an imiage!!

keep in touch on this one.

not sure but from a google search looks like there might be a pic on this forum, anyone more learned than me know how to find it the link doesn't seem to work?

32s have teh fuel tank under the boot, R33's ones are infront and over the rear Axle ..

good luck getting one engineered, and more than likely you would lose your spare wheel well in this process too ..

i got 2 x 12" Subs, 2 x Amps & a Battery in my Boot, my spare tyre is 2 cans of Shhhhht that white stuff, 12 bottles of compressed CO2 & some tryre plugs.

so a spare has never been an issue :ban:;)

still gotta work out where i'm gonna put the surge tank, maybe i can cut the tire well out & put a drop tank that incorporates a surge tank where the spare used to be......................

you would be able to mount the surge tank under the car if you replace the wheel well...

if you are putting a drop tank in, you wont need the std tank, so remove that, plenty of room then for all fuel systems.

making it legal is the hard/costly part ..

and yeah, i dont have a spare in my car either, havent for 3 years.

Craved, definately food for thought!! i'm happy jetpilot bought the subject up.

PS: legality won't be a problem here, that's the good part!

    • Last year I got a set of MCA street coilovers for my turbo Forester after my son hitting a concrete gutter/wall on a small bridge causing the whole drivers side suspension to get bent because the rain just made the car slide out I love them, I think they were $2400. even had a hiccup of have the wrong hub configuration (my fault) so got onto MCA and they sent the correct shock ends overnight parts from QLD, for free!  I was very impressed with their customer service and quality of the product
    • They've had some weird failures on their brake actuators. One of them was because they added some kind of lubricant to the factory fill brake fluid that aftermarket brake fluid didn't have so it would affect the seals. Another was just mysterious, probably internal corrosion or something eating away at Prius brake actuators. Parts alone for those are a few thousand USD so not a cheap fix.

    • KYBs are typically twin tube, putting them in the lower tier of desireability. Do you just want to replace worn out ones for the lowest cost? I mean, you wouldn't just replace one end of a car, if the rears are a similar age to the fronts, then they are probably nowhere near what they should be, and likely won't be great against brand new fronts. So, to spend ~$800 on 2nd tier dampers, when you could get a decent set of MCA coilovers for <$4k.....? As to the strut tops. 1st up, the Sparesbox site specifically tells you that they are not correct for an R33. Beyond that, why do you think you need them?
