Ok guys,

I picked up a brand new rebuilt 25/30 for too good a price to let go. It has wiseco forgies, blueprinted bottom end, HE sump. The head has had heaps of machining but apart from that has stock cams etc.

Im after 500rwkw in race tune and 300 to 350rwkw street as i want get into the low 9's eventually (in a vl shell). Im getting the bottom end strengthened with argo rods and the other bits to cop 500rwkw but im unsure of the headwork. I have searched a fair bit and realise its easier to get a 26 head but this head has had heaps of porting so would preferably like to keep it.

Im using a mr turbo t72 and all other supporting mods. Ill ditch the vvt and use some cams around the 272 mark. My quetions are:

1) Whats the limit of hydraulic lifters? Do they limit lift to 9mm and the rev limit? If so would i need higher lift cams with my setup and goals? I dont plan on using heaps of revs (7500 limit maybe 8 for drags)

2) How do i go about changing my head to solid lifters? What parts are required apart from the lifters? Are the tomie solid lifters no longer available as they are still on greenline i think?

3) if they arent available from greenline whats my other option as i read you can get em in australia for 1500 which is a bit much.

4) should i still sell my head and get a 26?

If anyone could shed some light in this grey area for my i would really appreciate it

I would probably be going the tomie lifters yes, also keep the rb25 head.

Make sure you follow the vvt oil line to see where it goes, I have heard people that have disabled it talk about the cam gears failing on that side later down the track.

Someone else on here may be able to confirm if that bs or not but as I used the vvt on my own rb30det.

Also re the lifters, check out www.rinkya.com

They enable you to bid at the japan yahoo auctions, you need a credit card but. I think you will be very suprised when you see how much you can pick up the tomei lifters for off there instead.

Even with postage and import its a bargain.
