There are heaps of importers around, but unless the car is already here then you won't be able to get much, as the RAWS is about to come into effect. That means that only the few dealers which have met the RAWS accreditation will be able to get you a decent car.

See'ya:burnout:

James,

I've got plenty of Skyline's and Silvias in stock, with more coming, but alas I sell my cars at retail prices. What you get for that is a car that is licenced and fully prepared to the highest standards.

My website is www.c-red.com.au

Regards,

Jash

James,

I bought my Skyline from Down Under Autos in Jan this year(www.downunderauto.com.au) and they provided a good car and a good deal. They have some Skylines in stock (I've just checked) and they are members of the RAC Dealer Check set up (i.e. all their cars are checked by RAC). If you want any more details, then pm me. I am sure that there are other good dealers around, but I can't comment on those. In the end, it comes down to whoever you feel comfortable with. However, you should get a good enough deal with the specialist dealers who have Skylines in stock, compared to going through an importer. Also as the other guys have said, it is all changing at the moment, not too many people have compliance plates and prices are going to go up as supplies slow down.

Good luck with it.

Cheers.

on the subject of raws have been talkin to a company that is going through the raws accreditation. As i'm buying the mrs a jsx100 chaser myself and they r complying it in late april they said basically the new system is roughly the same with a few more criterias to obey. With less dodgy dealers and back yard importers bringing in dodgy cars

So really the end buyer is in a win win situation.

And as for those pre buyin checks as a motor mechanic those checks are only good as the person checkin them.

Ive seen a few cars bought at dealers. Suggesting the vehicle is in excellent condition and ive picked the crap out of em.

so fair enough the dealer getting the checks done but also have the thing checked out thoroughly at a registered well known work shop before you hand over the cash. Just a bit of advise

bought both my cars here and i seem to have had a lot less grief than the people that have imported. Ive heard that with the new laws the cars have to be pretty much stock standard before they are let in too. I guess the advantage of having it already here is theres no waiting and you can have it fully checked out....... but if u get it imported u save a bit of cash but there could be a few griefs and hassles getting it here etc.

Because your dad works where he works - why dont u get one there james? get one of those guys to bring it in?
