bud - i have put in castrol anti-freeze mixed at 1part to 3 with water. When i take it on monday, im gonna get wayne to put the same in - cos it has to be flushed before the welsh plugs are changed.

Go for the best ones, cos as I found out, the wrong coolant (or lack off) can totally mess up your engine (im sure the idiot who owned the car in japan didnt take care of it as well as he/she shoudl have)

Cheers but thats like telling me a car needs an oil change every now and then... :)

Any specific number of KMs it must travel?

Every 2 years or 40,000 k's, if you use 33% glycol, if you use 50% , 3 years 60,000 km. Dont use more than 70%. Its best to use ready mixed, otherwise use de-mineralised water to mix it with .

Never use the cheap coolant ( it has about 5% glycol ) .

Another cool trick if you are not sure if you have the correct type or not enough coolant consentrate in your system is to put your multimeter onto amps, Positive in the COLD coolant (radiator cap) and negative to earth! Under 200 milliamps is OK and anything over 200 milliamps most likely means you have some electrolicess going on = bad

Two metals (cast block, alloy head) together with water have a chemical reaction causing an electric charge which means your inhibitors (glycol) aren't working properly with the compositions of the metals which causes rust and corrosion - only a general rule

Make sure when you flush the system - the thermostat is out and you flush the heater core as well

My coolant (water really) came out Brown when i first did it after importation

Sorry that the images are stuffed :O I don't know whether to fix them (again) because Prank has said they would fix them forum wide.

Thats cool, I remembered seeing it when it had pictures and I couldnt make sense of it :D Nothing to do with your pics, it was just the locations on the engine weren't recognisable, must have been in a helluva spot.

When I got home from work that day I also realised I had saved it to my Bookmarks

couldnt agree more. ive had my whole block heater core flushed 3 times so far and im still gettin chunks...

radiator is awesome though cos i had it rodded out at a radiator joint. it needed the top tank replaced too...

guys, check ur hoses as well. just so u know, theres 2 small coolant hoses that run around the back of the motor block between the firewall and the motor. an absolute prick to fix! i needed to have my gearbox removed to get to them. at least now i have some good pics of my clutch assembely.

maybe for a preventative measure, get all new hoses. just a suggestion
