one of my mates has an R33 series 2 and i got in today and drove it down the street and i heard some grinding ticking sort of noises when it was hitting boost, im quite sure its coming from the turbo but it could be the heat sheilding not too sure, Anyone have an idea what is could be?

well, there is no point asking people on the forum. people would need to see it to know.

e.g. it's not like tick tick tick noise = this.

tock tock = this.

bing bam bong = this.

Basically, try and listen to where it's coming from. turn off the radio and listen.

Either one of you guys try and fix it, if nto, take it to a shop.

BTW, if you can hear the wheel chopping the housing, the turbo will already be dead and maybe the motor too.

If it is a definate ticking on boost pull the 1 intake pipe off from the mouth of the turbo and check for shaft movement backand forward side to side.

It takes 2 minutes.

Being a series 2 it probably has the Version 4 comp cover with the bakerlite compressor wheel.

After a small tap they are stuffed.
