standard bov vented to atmosphere.

Recommended Posts

Drivebai,

I reckon just use the factory BOV and plug the intake pipe recirculation hose and leave it to vent to atmo.

The S-afc has a setting called 'Dec-acel' the manual contains some settings to use for the RB25DET, I don't have it to hand atm. HAve a look in the manual. If this setting is disabled the Throttle % will be 0%.

46n2,

Yes its normal, the 32's with standard bovs are very loud. Ive now got one that vents to atmosphere and is quieter. Theres nothing wrong with the operation of the standard bov, its just that it vents back right before the air filter and is just as loud, if not louder, than an aftermarket one. Seems to be very sensitive to throttle too, where as aftermarket ones tend only to vent LOUDLY when you WANT it to, not all the time.

I was asked by the cops to change my BOV back to factory when it was already factory. They couldnt believe how loud it was.

I put the plumb back hoses on again and tried blocking the hole under the BOV to see what it does in real life.

I actually like the effect it has, except it certainly doesn't make the car quicker (for those who thrive on placebo effects). It does give a better response when the throttle pushes the vacume into a range just before '0'.

That's pretty much the same result I had. It sort of feels snappier (very technical term !!) around the 0 to on boost part.

But the thing I like the most is it's quieter than before :D I don't get the sound of air recirculating as much now. The HKS filter does enough of that (which I'm thinking of swapping it for the standard box sooner or later)......
