Hi all,

I'm in the middle of drafting up a package that I intened to make available to all Skyline owners... I came up with the idea when I was doing a few seperate upgrades to my car and realized it would be so much better and less time consuming to do them all at once :P

Anyways - things I want to lump into the package:

Gates Triple Strength Timing Belt

Gates Radiator Hose Kit (top and bottom hose)

Some type of an Oil Filter to Suit

NGK Iridium Spark Plugs x 6 (0.8mm)

Engine Oil

Engine Coolant

Now you may be asking why you would lump in coolant and oil into the package; answer is that you need to flush the coolant to install the radiator hose kit. You might as well do an oil change while you're at it. Spark plugs may be an optional component as most of us already have good ones in there.

Anyways, I'm just after some market opinions on whether or not this is a good idea and what type of pricing people would expect to pay for it. I have some contacts that deal primarily with servicing materials so we'll be able to get some good numbers if it looks worthwhile to them too.

So if you have any ideas on what could be added, what can be excluded, prices (all ex. delivery as that is a per case basis) that would be awesome.

Thanks

Stan

Won't those two parts add lots of $$$ to the cost? At the moment I only know the base prices on the two Gates products, haven't really looked at the pulleys - will do so though.

Quite a few posts on NSK alternatives for those exp tensioner/idler bearings. Anyway im very interested if its all goin to happen within the next 4 weeks. My car is prob 3 weeks away from being complied/registered.

cheers.

so will a full engine rebuild if you dont replace those parts when doing the timing belt :(

it would be nice if u did the same group buy thats for sau syd members for 100k service that includes the ngk idler+tensioner bearings, belts, gaskets and other nick nacks. i would have jumped on it if i was a sydney resident.

Im up for my 6 month oil change soon as well, so if you could get some brands and prices that would be good. I wouldnt need a timing belt though because I have a Nismo one on its way to me.

What about Coilpacks as well, you have to remove the originals to install new spark plugs anyway. How much are Splitfires? Or you could remove plugs from the package altogether....

Hi

I am interested.

Just pulling out the RB 26 out of the GTR for a rebuild.

Tensioner pulley bearings died and i guess I have bent valves etc.

Definitely no compression.

Freighting oil and coolant is expensive and there are plenty of places to buy at a reasonable price.

Skyline bits on the other hand can be expensive unless you do a lot of running around.

Gates timing belt has been $99.

Can you give us some prices?

Stan! Great idea man!

Maybe two packages? a 5000k service pack, and a 100,000 pack?

The idler and tensioner bearings can be had from Bearing Industries for under $100. (search for thread with details).

FULL PACK:

100 timing belt

100 idler/tensioner bearings

120 drive belts

100 radiator hoses

50 thermostat

100 spark plugs (1.1mm or 0.8)

? 5L good oil

15 oil filter

15 fuel filter

? coolant

? gearbox oil (I bought Redline)

SERVICE PACK:

100 spark plugs (1.1mm or 0.8)

? 5L good oil

15 oil filter

? coolant

20 3x metal-backed wiperblades

20 Bottle of Injector treatment

I guess it would add up, but if bought in bulk, maybe each supplier would come down on the price a little, and i'm sure people would pay to have everything in one pack rather than find stupid part numbers for belts and run around everywhere trying to convince auto stores to order them in for ya. ;o)

I've been told that this Group Buy does not comply with the rules of the forum and so it'll be closed very shortly... I've also been told that my group buy hinges on being a representation of my business - Northern Beaches Performance.

I have no issues with complying with the rules so I'm now closing this thread. I will also say I have no connections with Gates, just know people who work there.

If anyone wants their parts, feel free to PM me and we'll organize something offline as a few of you already have. Yes, I can get low prices, and no I do not need to buy in bulk to get those prices.

Thanks
