Fingers crossed you car comes under 'contents' in your house and contents insurance...cause im sure its better to claim through house insurance than car insurance, rating 1 compromised etc...goodluck

Nope.

Vehicles are specificaly excluded in the house and contents policy

Pity, cos thats got a zero $ excess.

Have to claim under my car policy so its the $500 basic excess.

Ive been told I may not loose my no claim discount since I held a gold rating at my previous insurer and it was ment to be acceped at this company but was not noted. Guy there said provide proof and it may still carry over (fingers crossed)

Saw the panelbeaters today.

They said since only one panel is undamaged they are quoting for a full respray.

Spose I your an optimist $500 for a full respray isant that bad....

damn that sucks, good luck with the insurance though it was painful trying to make a claim when my missus hit a dog - their easy to deal with when they have someone to return money back but when its a pure "accident" they can be real pricks.

No.

Builder has just had a look and said it was caused by a roof leak.

I say bullcrap, showed my old man who's a builder and works in commercial.

First thing he said...

Where's the glue?

You can't hold up gyprock with just gyprock nails. YOU NEED GLUE!!

Wouldn't have happened if glue was also used.

did u notice that there was no screws in the middle of the sheet as well

No glue.... Chances are he was a tight arse and used nails.. hence the nail comment. if he won't spend on glue what are the chances of him spending on the more expensive screws and screw gun. :P

Yer its a little hard to see via a pic if there is or isn't nails/screws in the middle...

The fault here all comes down to the lack of glue.

As stated soaked up a little water, because there was no glue it simply pulled through.

The assessor has been to see it.

He has said it needs a full respray.

Over 5k

Just waiting for written notification to go ahead with that now.

Glue was used.

Its the same colour as the timber so it just didnt show up in the pics.

If glue had been used it will rip a chunk out of the gyprock.. Unless he didn't use the correct glue.

Well the incorrect glue managed to hang on for 30 odd years...

Still hanging on now as just having a close look at it now shows all the glue blobs covered with the cardboard covering off the gyprock.

i guess the cardboard covering just came away when it was wet.

Builder has just had a look and said it was caused by a roof leak.

I can see the glue marks, what I CAN'T see, is any water damage to the top side of the gyprock.

If it was caused by water damage, you'd expect to at least see a few water stains?

Damn I'm blind..

I can see marks on the gyprock but they don't look like glue marks... Well nothing like the glue marks that I'm used to seeing.

In the past when I've slapped up gyprock with my old man then once had to remove it the glue ripped great big holes in the gyprock.

Anyhow...

Just as a further note,

Im insured with Shannons.

Just wanted to say that the assessor was great, he "didnt want to take any shortcuts on a car like this"

Been great service from them so far.

So two thumbs up for Shannons :)

    • January or Feb is it booked in for turbo fitment?
    • The MX5 has had some annoying rattles in both front doors over bumps So I installed fancy pants door bushings, which stopped all of the rattles with the windows up, but........with the windows down there was still rattles, so after some googling,  and a chat with MX5 Mania, I got some new door to glass weather seals, all the rattles, windows up, or down, are gone now Shout out to MX5 Mania, the weather seals were on sale, and when I head to Dural to pick the up they even fitted them for me for free I did see a "really" nice Blue NA sitting out front   and this Black NC PRHT that looked like it has sat in the sun for its whole life and never had a wash, the clear coat was non-existent, an it looked horrible, really horrible, but, it had a nice turbo kit with over 200kw, the thing went like a cut snake, bagging the rears through the gears and dosing like a champ 😍 But, as I've always stated, I am keeping my NC na, I'm happy with the current power the car makes In other news: MX5 Mania do a drive in drive out turbo kit, the only minor additional part recommended for boosting my car, as it sits now, is a oil cooler, and that bonnet vents are definitely required for track use Aftermarket version look a bit to "racecar" spec I wonder how Focus RS bonnet vents would look?????
    • Paint is only structural when applied to the outside of Chinese and Indian cars. Otherwise it should never be present between mechanical joints that were intended to be metal to metal. Pain slips, slides, cracks, compresses, and add thickness that wasn't intended to be there. It comes firmly under the category of "just no".
