For anyone that may be looking for GTR Geoff, or chasing HICAS bars off him, thought i would let you knwo that he was rushed into hospital on Friday night and underwent the knide yesterday, about 4 weeks sooner then planned.

If anyone saw him Tuesday they would have seen that he was in a lot of discomfort/pain, with his back earlier back surgery not doing the job.

So if you are chasing your HICAS bar shoot me a PM and i will see what i can arrange, but you may need to be patient. Back surgery like this isnt quickly recovered from.

Thanks for the well wishes, and thanks for posting up a sitrep for me Bris. It just won't do to go MIA like that.

I was feeling poorly Thurs, and had a severe downturn Friday which had me admitted to Epworth emergency dept. Nerve compression was so severe the surgeon was concerned with permanent damage. Saturday was worse. Completely crippled, no use of left leg and excrutiating pain. Lotsa morphine.

Op went ahead Saturday, cleaned up extensive internal scar tissue from original operation 12 months ago, decompressed the nerve and removed extruded material from disc when it ruptured again. Then a quick caurterize of the disc to build scar tissue and strengthen it.

I was told by other docs that a disc fuse or replacment was necessary, but this doc is well regarded and has about 1/100 failures so i'm hoping for a long term recovery. Discharged today with less pain than I've had in months...years even. Last op took a week to get out of hospital so hope this is an indication of the expertise of the surgeon.

It will be 6 weeks before I'm doing much more than walking, and of course the bars will take longer to complete so with patience I'll get to everyone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting.

Geoff

glad it went well geoff, hopefully you'll be on your feet sooner than later!

just out of curiosity, when did you first get the prolapsed disc? did you let it heal properly when it first appeared? did it keep re-appearing?

I cant beleive its been a year since you last went under the knife.

Anyways - glad to hear you are recovering well and even glader that you are not in pain (for the 1st time in however long).

Wishing you a speedy recovery and look forward to catching up when you are back on your feet.
