Removing valve stem seals??

Is there an easy way to get the Valve stem seals off on a CA18DET engine???

Been trying for the last hour with no luck...the only way I can see to do it is to make up a tool thet fits under them and then hammer it up....any ideas welcome coz I'm ready to drop kick it out of the shed

If its anything like the old L-series seals, its just a rubber thingy. Should just pop off, even with the valve in place (springs removed, of course).

You're sure the seals are still in place? You're not trying to remove part of the valve guide or something?

Yeah they are still in place but they are metal bodied seals pressed onto the guide....alot harder to remove than full rubber seals and because it has a bucket/lifter set up the valve stem seals are "inside" the head by about 50mm
