Hey guys,

i stumbled across an old article about a r32 GTR that supposodely runs 11.5 down the quater with the following modifications

Standard Garrett T28 Turbos

HKS Cam Gears

Trust Airinx Filter Kit

Custom Bleed Valve

Standard Dump Pipes

Trust MX Front Pipes (75mm into single 80mm)

Click for Full Image Straight through Cat Converter

HKS Hiper Cat Back Exhaust

Exxedy Single Plate Three Puck Clutch

producing a Best of 240rwkw

Is it just me or does this list of mods and power output seem like it wouldnt be enough to crack a mid 11?

Just asking out of interest...

Daniel

I knew this car well as it belonged to a fellow FangArtist (HiRisk).

Absolute animal of a car for the minor mods it had.

To put it plainly, Shaun drove it like he stole it in those runs. This included rev limiter launches, flat shifting and doing everything humanly possible to pull the fastest possible time.

As Leewah said ............. the car made 253rwkw on Racepace dyno ............... which one of the 1st cars at Racepace to make over 250rwkw with stock turbos. When the car was raced 1/4 mile it had no rear spoiler, spare wheel or anything in the boot. Shaun also would switch the car to rwd mode for a big burnout on old semi-comp tyres. It was great car and owner knew how to drive it hard, the car visited 9000 rpm a few times. "Hirisk" always knew how to put on a good show :)

Car was in perfect condition when he sold it.

It just goes to show that you can absolutely thrash the hell outta a car but as long as it's properly maintained, there really shouldn't be any issues with it.

Those were the good ol days when we could cruise/fang where we liked and nobody asked any questions. Nowadays, you'd be nuts to go out and do half of what we used to do.

FangArtists FTW!!!

Hey cheers for the responses guys ... im suprised to see that a couple of you guys actually know him. He must have thrashed that car hard did it need a rebuild by the time he was finished with it?

Thats about the quickest time ive seen for stock turbo's....

Ive heard of a few NZ boys cracking mid 11s with stock turbo's, anything under 11.99sec is very good IMO.

Ive seen a R33 GTR with hi-flowed stockies make 280RWKW and run 11.70 @ 117MPH. I thought that was pretty impressive.

I also know of a R32GTR with R34 N1's that ran 11.20....

shudup

It was my 3rd run of 4 and first time at the drags. I'd never even practiced launching before :)

dial in limiter, drop clutch, hang on = fast

There is also a 32R thats dipped into the 10's with R34 N1's, although not street fuels :D

As Leeway and RPMZ have already mentioned, this was HiRisk's car.

The car did do that time with listed mods but driven very hard/well with semi comp rear tyres.

Those were the good ol days when we could cruise/fang where we liked and nobody asked any questions. Nowadays, you'd be nuts to go out and do half of what we used to do.

FangArtists FTW!!!

The good ol days....never to return...

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
