Came home from work early today, crook since the weekend. Checked the mail expecting a package that was supposed to be here, no show. Thought that's odd and checked the neighbors as we often get his mail and vice versa (2 townhouses on our block) voila, mail receipt to go to Aus post and collect my parcel. Now, to get to the neighbors mailbox you gotta move the gate (I just reach through it to get to mine, his is a bit further away) so I had moved the gate maybe 15 degrees away from being in line with the driveway, jumped back in the car and totally forgot about having just moved the gate and proceeded to back up whilst not paying much attention (big mistake and I wear that completely, was making dumb mistakes at work all day, hence coming home). Bashed the gate, stopped and said a few expletives then got out to assess the damage thinking, at that speed surely it'll just be a scratch and for the car that was indeed the case...

As you can see, not enough force to really doo too much damage beyond paint work. I was surprised to see this however....

The gate is made out of the crappest light weight steel and the gate post had not been built such that it was actually attached to the ground properly. I was a bit shocked to say the least. Luckily I'm a friendly fellow and I help people out when they ask so I'm owed a few favours and can get the car, gate and post fixed for materials only which will save me a few bucks.

So yeah, not the greatest day today.. it was only made better by getting one of Mr_Crust's air boxes which look very slick so at least there's a positive to take out of the day, oh and no-one was hurt :O

Yeah silly mistakes are the worst,

On the weekend I was sitting at the lights with a car stopped behind me then all of a sudden, bang, the 40 something year old women rolled into the back of me (looking in my mirror I could see she was looking for something on the floor). Not knowing the damage I signalled to her to go down a side street, she indicated to turn so I turned into a street and then the bitch took off. Did a angry U turn trying to catch her but couldn't. Pulled over to inspect damage and was relieved to find barely a scratch and considering the force it felt like I was surprised.

mmm yuckers to silly mistakes....

the other night out cruising with a good mate russ, went up monument hill (local go place) found a few fellas there all car enthusiests.

"rip a skid!!" i hear from one of em so i think, why not :(

flawed it dropped the clutch and let er rip!

GRAB 2ND GEAR <--------- SILLY MISTAKE

car rips around to the right a whole 90 degrees, oops cant stop it, and it jumps over some ramp shaped sleepers into the middle of a little area, inside this area is the other end of the afore mentioned ramp shaped sleepers (verticle side)

FARK!!!

but luckily all the guys were very cool about the whole thing, i had a cringe they all had a cringe, we moved some of the sleepers that we could to form a ramp to get me outa there with a little help from them all to lift the car at the gaurds, all was good again

end of the story luckily my car suffer no damage, hearts weeping for ya :)

    • Just a thought, but instead of restricting, is it possible to do like an "up for review" kind of thing? Where say someone who's not an admin/mod tags, it would require approval for it to actually tag? User posts with a 'tag' > Admin/Mod Reviews > Approves tag > Tag now exists kinda thing? Just came across this thread so Im not too sure if Im straying off topic or not but forgive me if i am...
    • Yes, a plan for non-action is always my first sort of plan! I'm happy to see what falls out of invision's update. I had been having some thoughts on what to do with this the other day and they all seem to have fled my memory, after various solar panel induced traumas, squeaking suspension sphericals, etc etc, over the last little bit. I'll try and recall what I had in mind and make sure that I put it into print in some form before the Alzheimer's strikes again.
    • The ability to have both a 5500 stall for launching, and a regular lockup for every other scenario is pretty sweet. Does it actually work well like that though in the real world? Would it hold up to track use and otherwise you'd never know you had a stall converter in it? If so, that's awesome
    • The thing is, once the content has been tagged we can chop and change the end result as much as we want. Its identifying the content in the first place that needs to be done regardless of the final outcome.
    • Sorry @GTSBoy I thought I'd replied here. There's a new BIG version of invision coming out soon, it might be worth waiting until that happens as it contains a lot of improved functionality for tags. My suggestion would be to add a top level page (not thread) with some info on it and then link to sub pages for various topics. We could even just start really simple with 2 or 3 pages underneath it. Those pages could just have a view (like a pre configured search result) of the tags we choose to put on it. We could have some background or an intro on each of these pages. My only issue is that while admins and mods can update the existing content to contain the tags we want, new posts can have whatever tags the author wants. That said, the reason our tags are so messy is because of that, so maybe we restrict tagging to admins/mods in edits.
