hey there,

just wondering what people think is a decent price for a full respray, in the same factory colour and not taking the engine out? So nothing really all that special... what should i expect to pay for something like that?

also, anyone know of good places to go? just wanted to get a bit more background on this before going with one possible option i have...

cheers,

chinny

I would expect to pay about 3.5k at bare minimum. I was horrfied to find out the price of clips, window rubbers etc etc. I rang 3 or 4 reputable panel shops and theyall said about 5-7k for an EVO 8, the 7k was the colour change and having to rub the base colour back in case of stone chips.

So im guessing the same colour means a bit of labour is saved...but the rest of the materials and labour would be the same

Where are you going for quotes?......Mercedes Benz Melbourne

Oh sorry.....you mntione reputable....must meen Rigolo or some one like that.

Chinny take it to some one with a cheap local....so you dont have to pay for their exposure...and their arrogance

Chinny,

All i can say is you get what you pay for. Just for the brand new window rubber for your back window for the R34 your looking at $500, if not more. Theres no point in getting a full respray if they not gonna completely strip down your car, if they dont, eg leave on handles windows etc... thats when your paint gonna start 2 peel n u relise u've wasted your money on bodgy work. About $3500 + at least from a good quality workshop. Roy is correct in what his saying...

Happy to be proven wrong. But i dont think i will be. My car is gettign resprayed at the moment. A friend in Sydney just had his GTR resprayed. A friend down here is just about to finish a major respray. Have received quotes for an EVO 8, and a friend at work is about to drop his MX5 off.

So i could be wrong, but i would be speakign to more ppl, and if they tell you 4k dont automatically think they are ripping you off. Be objective and ask what that allows for. If someone says 2k dont say "yeh more like it" bu task the same questions and see who you are confident will doa good job.

looks like the quote i got was pretty good then, i know the guys quality and even troy have heard of him, hehehe :) it was a bit of mates rates though, did come with a request...

he wanted the rear quarters and rear windscreen taken out, and the door trims removed, then he'd come pick it up on his truck. This would be on my own accord, and the price was $3k including fixing up rust spot under the boot brakelight and welding up the 7 holes per side, on the rear quarter panels, all inclusive.

I think he was going to tape the door jams to where the weld line is?? But he said to do it properly he wanted the windows out, non of this folding back the rubber stuff...

so is that a fair price? i know it will be a good job at least (seen his work on my dad's bimmer) but i'm not sure if doing all those things he wanted, myself, adds up to a lot of money and i could find that price without having to do all that stuff myself...

cheers, and thanks for the help guys

Guy remember this famous quote

"You get what you pay for"

No offence matt...great quote only works for suckers......why dont we all buy 911 turbos......we will have paid alot of money...i instead prefer to

see 7 second hand r34 gtr's parked outside.

I will sell you an office chair that retails for $400 for $150.

That is not correct....your statement is flawed.

But having said that, shop around and ask what you are getting for your money.

I agree some people charge a resonable price but others charge like a wounded bull.

Saying the wounded bull is a better is incorrect. :(

Mmmm nope, I agree Matt with you get what you pay for. That is of course if you check what you paying for!

You need to compare apples with apples tiger and you and not! You can NOT compare those cars, pretty silly analysis. Why not try….

A $495 PC = Junk

A $2000 PC = Tops!.

mine is in the shop at the momeny after a pretty big accident.

Its got a full vtx waiting to go on and the whole thing is gonna be straightened, rubbed back, pulled apart and resprayed in the facory colour. The windows will be taken out and all the seals replaced.

I'm paying $8K for it to get done at a reputable workshop, but i don't mind paying it cos i know the work is going to be spot on. When it comes to big jobs like these, its worth paying the extra money to know that the job is going to be done exactly how u want it.

I'll post pics for everyone to see when its done.

cheers

higher priced jobs usually contain better materials and time preparing the job.....cheaper jobs mean break out the dynabraid air sander and wiz it down tape it up and paint it.....then wait for the shrink backs in a month or so,and fades ect needing to be redone much sooner......the dearer jobs mean wet sand windows out paint it once....rub it down wet and flow coat it....then the job last's for many years....take your pic,its horse's for course's as they say

    • Ayooo, been a while mates. I have a s2 r33 gtst and air stopped coming out of all the top vents.   My car has always made an actuator gear noise when turning the car on but that's a different issue I think? Did searches and am at process of thinking it's an actuator or some type of motor? I see a few different actuators and don't know which one. Would be nice to know if it was the one that's under the steering wheel so the dash doesn't need to come out.
    • Hi, just checking. Did you get this stuff made by Vspec Performance and at what price roughly? Looking into (sometime later) also getting such a intake kit, and Trust as well as HKS don't make a full set like this anymore.
