R33 Exhaust Pops On Trailing Throttle - Normal?

Seems to be a specific trait of my car, i will get quite a loud pop out of the exhaust after coming off the throttle sometimes. Seems to do it more if I've been on the gas a bit (more heat in the system to ignite leftover gas).

Car is completely stock apart from a replacement rear muffler.

Yeh i get a similar thing, im running very rich at the moment this may be contributing

ye that sounds normal from a skyline my car only does it when i cant be bothered to wait for it to warm up, its a back-fire quit normal with skylines

any you guys got a B.O.V. or a pod.

i had same prob with my BOV making my line rich when i had it on full vent to atmosphere ...

turned it back to 50/50 haven't had the prob. since ...

My car has never done it. Have pod and standard blow off valve.... As far as I know a vent to atmosphere bov interferes with the AFM making the car run rich.... If i ever change my bov it will be plumb back for this reason.... Also pretty sure the same set up contributes to stalling when lifting off the throttle.

Stock ones do it all the time.. usually when you've been going up a hill @ full boost for a while.. gets really hot and than ignites the excess fuel when you back off..

Shouldn't bee too much an issue..

Yeh its no issue for me, sounds kinda nice sometimes actually...

Only thing is you don't want it to burn up your cat.. but yeah - should be fine.. mines been doing it for a year or so..

yup same here, stock bov, stock cai with hi-flow filter and a replacement cat back, 2" or something shit like that

just found it interesting that a completely stock car would pop like that. I don't mind it, sounds kinda cool

If you're running an atmo BOV I would expect it to happen.

nope never happened in my stocker.

intake leak somewhere that seals under boost? does it miss at idle sometimes?

maybe the cat has been gutted?

can't hear any air leak at idle, and it has never missed.

cat was fitted by the compliance workshop so I'd assume it is fully intact
