i'm not one to bad mouth but i have heard of and had bad experiences with donnellans.

They are a reputable shop and do know what they are doing, however they get their back up too quickly when asked to check over their work.

nismoid - if ES86 had his balances checked at another store and they were way off - what other side is there to the story?

There can't be a reasonable explanation for that no matter how u look at it.

So now your saying you have had good expiriences in the past?

So is it a case of 5 good ones, one bad one or what?

Unfortunately thats the way it works, you can have 100 good experiences and then 1 bad one, and its the bad one you remember and tell all your friends about.

And just because they usually do a good job is no reason that they should be let off treating 1 customer badly.

I know we REALLY aren't allowed to post stuff like this (for legal reasons) but if people dont hear of these bad experiences of companies, where is the driver for companies to improve their service standards?

Sometimes a bit of negative publicity is what a company needs to force some changes and thereby improving their standards etc...

R31Nismoid - yes i had only 1 average experience with them b4..not good but avaerage...they still can't do the job well but at least they fix them up.

But this time they really pissed me off with their attitude and DIDN'T FIX MY PROBLEM AT ALL.

Dolleland are good at past, but not NOW with some dodgy and unexperienced staff that can't do the job at all.

I just want to share my story....if u don't care...stay out...

I don't know why we can't bad mouth?....We are only telling our side of the story.

And argumentitive discussion helps every-one release their anger.

Also gives the business a good idea not to dis-agree with their customers. After all we are paying them :mad:What's the saying" Customers always right"

We should be like the Americans 3 stricks and the f**ker has to be renewed.

What are we really doing here anyway? We need to express this sort of thing.

Thanks Nismoid for not cutting this off :D

I agree with both sides of the 'argument' here in the fact that I believe that forums are the most effective internet based means of publishing reviews and experiences of businesses to people who are interested in hearing them.

On the other hand, I can see where SAU -might- stand in wanting to keep this type of thing to a minimum, simply for the fact that this guy could just be from a rival tyre company trying to bash the competition.

The other parties involved in this don't have a voice, so that's a cause for concern.

I do feel though, if people cant talk about it here, where can they talk about it?

And thats the whole problem.

It one persons side. Who knows the real events, without input from both parties.

I somehow doubt Donellans are going to get onto a PC, come to SAU once a week to get a business report.

Read the guidelines:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...?act=boardrules

This thread should be locked, its plain and simple.

Someone makes a bad comment, it comes back onto SAU as a forum. This is a case of "free speech" at all. The guidelines are clearly there for a reason, and thats to keep these forums here for all users.

If the thread starter had have taken the time to real the rules he agreed to when signing onto these forums, he would see what he has done is against those rules

No slander to be made towards businesses or individuals. We understand that if you have had a bad experience with a business you want to warn other people of said experience, at the same time any information that could be classed as slander or is an attempt in anyway to deter business from any individual or business on this website is the responsibilty of the owner of the website and all legal liability falls on said owner. Informing people via PM's is tolerated as it is not a public message. With this said, feel free to post any information about a business or individual that you have had good dealings with.

So dont tell me to stay out, as a Forum Moderator i have to look after the best interests of this forum, as thats the interests of ALL members by making sure this forum stays here.

I dont care what personal interests you have as im sticking to the rules of the forum.

So in turn, im gonna lock this thread when i get home in fairness and a bit of leniency (2 hours). And no warning points handed out.

So if people have something to say on the rules, get it out now as you wont be able to in a few hours. Any subsequent posts regarding Donellans will be removed, as will the post in the Donellans tyre deals thread a few below this

cheers

As one of the moderators of this forum and threads like this one i believe you have done the right thing.

There has been no bad mouthing just expressions of anger to the way some people treat others.

In this case a supplier of wheels and a customer, this being backed up by others who have had some

issues there aswell.

As far as saying, they deal with tyre kickers and are frustated, makes me believe some people do not enjoy their jobs.

Yes these are the terms people agree to when entering this forum, and i agree.

Having said that , i think all supplier should be posted up in this Forum for scrutiny.

We are all judged everyday. Why can't they?Yes it is not right to not have heard one of the sides of the story

and the supplier in question but it is really in the interest of all in this Forum to have their say about

these issues.

Maybe an area of comments about suppliers(brief 50 words no more, good or bad) is needed .

Each supplier and service provider in locations and what price and how good.

This will help all in this Forum and reward the Suppliers who do the right thing and charge the right price.

Thanks again for letting this thread run. :D

Ok, incase you didnt understand the rules i put in bold... i give this very real scenario.

Person comes to SAU and makes a thread

-> speaks ill of a business from thier point of view

--> said business then finds out, wasnt the case at all

---> said business now takes SAU to court for allowing business harming comments to exist

-----> SAU gets stuck in a legal battle

-------> No more SAU forums

Its that simple. The guidelines are there for that reason. To protect everyone. This forum is quite lenient in what we let go on. But posts that have the potential bring the forum down, are not looked upon highly.

No supplier should be put up here for scrutiny at all.

The rules of the forum clearly state the boundaries. We should not be deciding "how good" a business is either.

If the rules dont suit you, then thats just too bad. They are there to protect us :D

Cheers - ash

    • To expand on this to help understanding... The bigger/longer the block is, the more it's going to work to sit on your far away high areas, and not touch the low stuff in the middle. When you throw the guide coat, and give it a quick go with a big block, guide coat will disappear in the high spots. If those high spots are in the correct position where the panel should be, stop sanding, and fill the low spots. However, using a small block, you "fall off" one of the high spots, and now your sanding the "side of the hill". Your little block would have been great for the stone chips, where you only use a very small amount of filler, so you're sanding and area let's say the size of a 5/10cent piece, with something that is 75*150. For the big panel, go bigger!   And now I'll go back to my "body work sucks, it takes too much patience, and I don't have it" PS, I thought your picture with coloured circles was an ultra sound... That's after my brain thought you were trying to make a dick and balls drawing...
    • Oh I probably didn't speak enough about the small sanding block for blocking large areas.  In the video about 3 minutes in, he talks about creating valleys in the panel. This is the issue with using a small sanding block for a large area, it's way too easy to create the valleys he is talking about. With a large block its much easier to create a nice flat surface.  Hard to explain but in practice you'll notice the difference straight away using the large block.
    • Yep I guessed as much. You'll find life much easier with a large block something like this -  https://wholesalepaint.com.au/products/dura-block-long-hook-loop-sanding-block-100-eva-rubber-af4437 This is a good demo video of something like this in use -    You have turned your small rock chip holes into large low spots. You'll need to fill and block these low spots.  It's always a little hard not seeing it in person, but yes I would go ahead and lay filler over the whole area. Have a good look at the video I linked, it's a very good example of all the things you're doing. They went to bare metal, they are using guide coat, they are doing a skim coat with the filler and blocking it back. If what you're doing doesn't look like what they are doing, that's a big hint for you
    • The odometer does go up when driving.  Does this tell it is an issue with the speedometer itself?    Where can I look for replacement cluster? Or speedo? I can likely do the repair.. Will ER34 cluster work on HR34? Or do I need a HR34 20GT S2 specifically lol
    • Mine's a bit bigger at 70x150mm roughly. The spots are flat, just can feel the edges if I dig my nail into it. I did fix some other other ones by both using my finger to sand that small spot (I'm a bit wary of doing this and creating hot spots and a bigger mess) and I also did sand over it flat and others, but this also worried me a bit because if I create an overall low spot on the panel on paint that is good.  Correct me if I'm wrong but as long as it's flat even if I can feel the edges, I can put filler because it will all be level once I sand it? I can see myself going in a circle after sanding guidecoat with 320 grit if for example the panel is flat with my hand but because I sanded the guidecoat I could have created a low spot again somewhere. Unless where I'm going wrong is what I mentioned previously where I didn't go low enough on the grits. It's 1 step forward and 2 step backwards here haha. I'll probably need to experiment with it more. Last time I go back to bare metal lol.
