it worked fine on standard ecu boost before and after, i cant explain what happened there, except that it caught me totally off guard. as i said earlier, it seemed to make very little power at the time, as if free spooling, which got me paranoid.

i wonder, has anyone else tried this boost mod without actually breaking the circuit of the black grounding wire?

i dont pretend to fully understand the workings of the solenoid and harness involved. but perhaps this plays an integral part in it all.

yeha i dunno mate, the only thing i can put it on is a dodgy earth if no leaks or anything. The actual theory seems sound. If you tee-d it in by soldering it on it would be a lot better.

I don't think that initial boost spike would have done anything. I have a $22 dollar valve and the screw fell off = maximum boost. Car boosted to 23psi and 6 months later turbo is still going strong.

I don't think it would have caused a problem.

We have had cold weather lately so the white smoke is most likely condensation (as said earlier).

thanks for all the input ppls.

white smoke = condensation. glad to hear it.

i also know that white smoke on cold start can be an indicator of worn seals on the turbo.

but i'll cross that bridge if i come to it.

again, cheers for all the help.
