hey im pretty happy with my suspension set up at the moment i spose but its just to high, got like 3 inches between my tyres and my wheel arches. If i put bigger rims on they'll fill up the gaurds better but will also make my car higher so.. I spose ill leave the 17's on it and get it lowered. Its a Type-M, so the sides have skirts and are already pretty low, so whats the mimimum distance from ground to kit? At the sides? does the front matter as much? Any other information would be cool, my car looks pretty average at the moment.

this is such a bullshit law....100mm ride height FULLY LOADED. drive a brand spankin new Clubsport off tyhe showroom floor, chuck 5 average sized adults in it , put some small luaggage in the boot..........100mm? i dont think so! so basically if u buy a brand new car, unmodified, fully loaded u can get d*cked by the cops...so what u do then? rise the stock ride height?

A Victorian TMU car fitted with the FE2 type holden "sports" suspension is under the minimum ride height for victoria at all times regardless of load. The suspension lowers the vehicle to 94mm.

Pity I havent got myself a uniform and a gun...

But, interestingly enough most road worthy testers test the vehicle unladen. The Information from Vicroads does not specify the car must be loaded. It must only clear the height and travel requirements.

I have always explained this to any Police officer who was nice enought to want to look at my car. I also have a print of the Vehicle standards information from vicroads in the car. No where in this entire document does it say i must be in the car.

However... When you are doing this, be nice, professional in your approach and becareful not to be to defiant, you can be charged for failing to obey a policeman.

Unfortunately it is once again a case of a motorist/car owner having to prove themselves innocent by getting a roadworthy from either the police not knowing the law or using their "discretion" and applying penalty where no penalty is due.

You have to remember poor old "johhny copper" here's a thousand bulls**t stories as to why the car is legal. How can he beleive yours?

Either way from their point of view or ours it is a no win situation.

frx026 mentions the vehicle being unladen when tested which makes sense as what is the tester going to do, get 4 mates in greasy overalls to jump in the car and test it.

I thought the vehicle had to be no lower than 100mm with 1 adult, might be wrong.

I got pulled over the other w/e and when i got rwc my car was sitting around 130mm ? and i have hsd coilovers, the cop put the thing underneath it and my exhaust pipe hit and im like i got it rwc this that i can show u papers his like it doesnt matter we have to check fully loaded 4 passengers with a full tank of fuel ? even thou i got canaried for other stuff the ride height pissed me off... i dont think my car would drop more than 3 cms with coilovers and with extra 150 kilos because i only had 2 mates in the car. :@:@

edit; even if i go to get rwc there goign to check it and its goign to be legal... so double u t f.

Pppft "Jonny Copper" can go eat a d|ck. I'm ALWAYS nice, polite and respectable to no avail so I'm over it.

Yes they can ask you to get back in the car as I was. The second time I told him it was 110mm he conveniently didn't have his measuring device..BS!

100mm is the minimum clearance with passengers and full tank of fuel. payload is different, so people saying golf clubs aswell, they cant be counted. in a skyline its 4 ppl and full tank fuel = 100mm ride clearance.
