TURISMO
Hey guys just thought I'd tell you about Drift and Skid days out at the Driver training centre on Sutton Rd, you get a hell of alot of fun annd it only costs $99 ($125 some days). Everything is on the Skid pan so no need to worry bout dem tyres. More info at www.fifthgear.com.au and they have heaps of other training aswell Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/128180-skid-pan-days/ Share on other sites
DJ_On_Ice
Hey Guys & Gals, Reece (Turismo) & I went today to one of these Skid and Dift days - run by Dereck (owner and operator of Fifthgear Motorsports) and it was money well spent!....SERIOUSLY. We started at about 8:15 and left after washing our cars at about 13:15 or so. So all in all a fair few hours of driving and tutorial. Well worth the money! If you are wanting to tune your drifting skills, or just go out and go rank! Then you should definately look into the Skid and Drift days. However, Fifthgear offers alot more, ie; Defensive driving courses, Advanced driving courses and you can buy your self some time in Derecks car (a quite nicely modded, but simple track R32 GT-R...running at about 400HP). Dereck is a very approachable bloke who is very good at finding a way to explain in a way you can understand anda way that can be benefictial to you, just how you need to improve your method of driving to get to the outcome you want. We both highly recomend Fifthgear Motorsport! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/128180-skid-pan-days/#findComment-2368420 Share on other sites

DJ_On_Ice
Well I'm not sure if the next "Skid & Drift" day will be the same special $99 price but even if it is the normal $125 price it's still worth it. I was thinking that if we could stir up enough interest through SAU and regularyly had days there then we might get a nice little discount...but.... I really dont mind spending the normal price. Next public session is 20th August @ $125. DJ_On_Ice
LOL Nice work....yeah the non public sessions thing is something that reece and I have been organising with some friends but I definately think that we should get an SAU day organised. Teacher and students all with Liners!....Well bar one underpowered BMW....but hopefully that will be gone soon or at least I'll have my track car. I just realised aside from the SAU day which I would like to do I am going to one (should we get enough people) for a mates birthday.....Isn't Dereck going to be happy that he met us! Darkon
count me in for the private one if you can get it as long as car is back on road i'm defiently there SWEET hopefully with well over 200rwk too Edited August 1, 2006 by Slither Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/128180-skid-pan-days/#findComment-2374290 Share on other sites
StinkyPoo
KK, he said there has to be a group of 8 people to run a private session.... So i think it's safer to say that we should join a public session because the drop out rate on SAU is close to 80% Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/128180-skid-pan-days/#findComment-2374669 Share on other sites

Terminal
i'm doing my defensive driving course on sunday, then doing a skid pan day on the 27th with Rick Bates (Neil Bates' brother). is this the same thing? DJ_On_Ice
Nup, different guy and company. Ah yes the drop out rate is high BUT we have one small thing that helps there be as small a drop out rate as possible.... prior payment! You have to pay before you go! So what we could do is set a date in the not too distant futur but certainly enough time to organise 8 people and then we could pay for oursleves. Anyone drops out - thats fine! Because Dereck get his money and we still get to go to the Skid Pan (in fact its actually better the fewer people there are as you have more time and more opportunities to get out on the Pan) . steves180
Did he say when we need to make a private session or can we book when we're ready?? I am in this 100%, i've wanted to do something like this for so long. But if this is going to take 3 months to organise ill just go to the public one. DJ_On_Ice
I'm not sure but I think we can make a booking around that time anyway. I know myself and Reece (TURISMO) and going to the public one also. Look, how about we do this.... LIST! Simply put your name and mobile down in a post and once we have about 8 we can organise a time when we can all meet. 1. Pat (DJ_On_ice) 0411487633 2. Reece (TURISMO) 0423958366 3. Steve 0431121840 4. Frink
im definately in for a private session.... i've been trying to organise a skidpan day at eastern creek with aaron mcgill motorsport. his skidpan days are just awesome. games, timed team racing and even racing against other cars at the same time. but they are much more expensive than $125.... 2 months seems like a good time frame. everyone can organise time off work if need be and get their cars ready if their not already... count me in. i can probably drum up a few more as well.... i might even give the next public session ago! leech_
looks like we should get 8 easy. If we dont get the numbers for a private session then i will prob go to a public one anways i never even thought these were done in this area... i was thinking i would have to go to wakefield... granted i know this is not a race track or anything but still a good safe area to push a few limits of the car's handling Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/128180-skid-pan-days/#findComment-2377091 Share on other sites
