Autowatch have a nice keypad which is very reliable

Get the brant nemesis.. Search for Alan Jong.. he installs them.. around $1000..

it's a 6-point - but really.. 3-point + 3-point keypad..

Works well.. haven't really had any issues, only problem is the range of the receiver to unlock/lock the car.. about 2m..

the one posted in the NS area is an autowatch item. leon (SIM) sells them in sydney I do them in brissy.

they can be added to most autowatch alarms as an add on.

forget brant- no longer worth the effort.

Out of interest Chris why would you say that? regarding forget brant?

One of the reasons for myself getting a brant alarm was that I didn't want someone stealing my keys and also the visual deterrant the keypad has..

Realistically if someone wants to steal it they will.. and it's fully insured.. but I guess anything you can do to protect your car helps..

I've been really happily with it.. only issue I have is the distance that the remote works.. it's terrible!!..

Have a look around see what you like.. if you were in qld.. def go and see Chris.. however I don't know about vic..

$150 fitted

post-29501-1144656580.jpg

I would be worried about the numbers wearing off after time which may suggest the pin. Farnell sell a vandall proof keypad with the numbers etched into the buttons which are metal. The whole thing is a metal unit making it very difficult to open up.

no my 5 digit pin only uses 3 buttons, $100, or $150 fitted i'm not worried about numers if they starteed jsut scrape them off or somthing. Oh thats not my car btw, i mounted mine in teh center consle so i dont' even look at the numbers when i type them in.

I have to add you dont' get to chose the pin, it comes with one and its' actully a 5 digit pin.

    • I found the same with Subaru’s.  I own and love the SG9 Forester, after that model 2008+, Subaru threw the ugly stick at all their line up and somehow managed to make them look worse with every succeeding year.  lol
    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
