Hi all

I noticed that after my coilover + whiteline front camber kit + castor kit install that the front left wheel is more forward than the front right.

ie. the front left is closer towards the front bar than the right.

conversely, the front right wheel is closer to the back inner wheel guard and hence is rubbing up when the steering wheel is full locked to the right.

What does this mean? is it out of alignment? it has only been 250km so maybe the bushes need wearing in and the car needs another alignment. I have another alignment booked for 1000km to check over everything.

Cheers

My guess is that the castor bushes you have had installed are the adjustable ones. It would seem to me that they have given a castor difference left to right to stop the "pull left". To me they have done the correct thing. As for the rubbing, are the wheels larger than standard? Maybe get them to change the castor on that side a touch to get it away from the body work. Just my thoughts.

Ohh so it is castor that is causing this?

Yeap adjustable castor whiteline bushes and tyres are 235/40/18, so a very similar (if not smaller) rolling diameter when compared to the stock wheels.

In the alignment, I believe one side is around 8 degrees and the other 6 degrees castor. Cant remember which was for which side but from my descriptions, can anyone tell me? Is it 8 degrees left or right wheel?

They left the castor different intentionally to so that the car would not steer left and to combat the natural left down slope of a road.

SydneyKid thinks that the difference in castor is TOO much and recommends only a 0.5 degree difference between left and right. With my 2 degree difference it still drives fine and straight.

What do you guys think?

2 degree difference is too much imo

0.5 deg difference is fairly standard, most wheel alignment places i've been to recommended that.

Get it fixed up, and make sure the car drives straight. If it does, then you don't have anything to worry about, even if one wheel seems more forward than the other, it could just be the guards are fitted differently or something (perhaps the car has had previous accident repair)
