What is the best method/product for cleaning brake dust and other assorted crap off of this type of wheel? As you can see I haven't been able to master the tecniques required to get into the bits behind the spokes (read: I'm too lazy to do it with a toothbrush and take all day). Is there a chemical thats designed to get rid of this grime, but not the paint or anything else?

Be nice to the newbie. :)

There is an eagle 1 tyre and wheel cleaner, ive used it a couple of times on my rims, but i dont usually do behind the spokes. Not too sure if this stuff is suitable to painted rims, but ive got shadow chrome and they seem fine after a few uses.

Evil

We have this stuff at work called Acid Klene its about $200 for a 20L drum and I just spray this straight onto my rims then rinse off with the high pressure hose and they look brand new gets rid of ALL the brake dust, its amazing how well it works, have used it on many friends cars and their shocked with how well it works, im not sure if its available through any shops though? We get it through a company called Jasol,

I guarentee this would work just be careful if you manage to get a hold of it because if you breathe the fumes from it in you will get high as a mofo.

All I use is plain water and an old rag, it gets all of the grime off. But I have to clean my rims every week as I have white rims so as long as I keep it up I don't need anything harsher. They are 6 spoke, nothing as insane as the ones you are trying to clean.

I use the Zymol wheel cleaner with the little brush - smells kinda minty.

I've got wheels with studs around the dish so can be hard to clean properly without a little assistance. But the brush makes the job pretty easy...

Works well for me...
