Hey fellas, lately i have noticed i get a slight intermittent 'clunk' in the rear end of my car when taking my foot off the throttle when the revs are constant... I have NEVER dumped the clutch or done burnouts... i do occasionally take off bit hard off the lights for a run but that’s bout all... Could something be loose? What should I look out for? Is my Diff/tailshaft on the way?

Another question... what is the difference between 1 way, 1.5 way and 2 way LSD diffs?

Regards,

Sarkis

hey dude.

(ur not rashal sarkis that used to go the st pauls are ya?)

anyways.. i got the same issue. im guessing my diff is stuffed, cos i tried to be cool my the guys on the movies and did alot of drifting.

does anyone know how much it costs to fix this problem? (ie how much for a new diff??)

check U-joints - get under the car and turn the drive shaft back and forth by hand check for play. there should be no side to side (i mean like left to right or up and down) there should be a little turn-play but not much...

check diff mounts and subframe mounts - those are the rubber mounts that are inbetween the car and the sub-frame/diff.

if its happening during deccel or accel its prolly the diff mount..

and last but not least check YOUR LUGNUTS! seriously the come loose sometimes, happened to me i felt stupid haha...

good luck...

About ur clunk noise.... i had it in my 200sx sometimes turned out 2 of the bolts on the rear subframe where about half a turn loose. tightened them up and it stopped. mechanic or suspension shop is the place to go. cheers paul
