"There are 3 ways of boost control. One with the standard wastegate actuator; You can get stronger ones which allow you to run higher boost all the time. Great if you dont fiddel and know what boost you want."

i read this in someones R33 tuners guide...

umm.. .. i still don't understand.. can someone help me understand how upgrading a wastegate will keep a constant boost level setting without a controller?

i know what a wastegate is and what it does but i just don't understand how i can preset a boost level by buying a certain type..

key word you missed there dude "actuator"

Not the wastegate iteself

Thats the little "round" shaped thing attached to the front of the turbo via a brakcet generally.

Upgrading to a tighter actuator means rather than letting the wastegate open @ 7psi... if you have a 10psi actuator, it will open up @ 10psi of pressure.

so if i get a 38mm aftermarket wastegate with a 10psi spring i will have my car running at 10psi boost ?

and would i be using an inner or outer 10psi spring.. because i have NO CLUE on which one im going to be using

annd is it a direct bolt on to my aftermarket dump pipe and stock r33 turbo?

Yes. your car should run 10psi.

But for a stock R33 turbo. An external wastegate does not bolt on

Further more, its a waste of money.

What you are after is a 10psi actuator from an R32 turbo. Not a whole aftermarket wastegate setup.

Make sense?

The boost shouldn't rise more than 1psi after those mods. The actuator is sensing the pressure after the intercooler. All the cars I have seen the boost stays pretty much the same before and after those mods. Exhaust certainly doesnt change it. I saw 0.5psi increase after intercooler.

If you only want 10psi don't spend over $30...
