The locked diff comment reminded me of a mate who modified the diff of his old corolla.

He some how welded it so that it was a one wheel drive.

After that he was able to step on the brake at any speed in any gear and instantly smoke it.

Had it down the burn out comp and won one of the years also.

The problem with one wheel drive is the slightest incline and the thing gets bogged as you try to take off, simply sits there and spins. Awesome fun.

1 wheel drive genrally happens when you snap a weld with having a locker.. 1 wheel cant seem to get traction no matter the powerplant.

in fact deluxe i might be able to find a small side draught for you? mate has all sorts from when he had a to4'd 179 in a hd holden.

Yeh nice the old lockers in my mates old Cilica used to go thru Axles like there was no tomorrow.

Oh and Jase if there was a side draught webber there to be used that would be sweet as they don't seem to be easy to find these days, You think it'll go straight on?

I think thats what he's done.. welded up just single spinner for the burnout comp. He eventually became annoyed with it and dropped in a normal diff again. He wasn't keen on lockers, especially as it was gutless.

im not to shure if there is a webber there, ill have to check tomorrow, from memory there is a dellorto and a stromberg.

either would be totaly sufficiant for what you want, its just a matter of fabricating the necisary manifolds ect..

pretty straight forward stuff.. you will have a hell of a time making the thing run right.

is a factory t25 t28 wastegated at 7-8 psi?

  • 2 weeks later...

Be careful, the pistons are like porcelain, they blow ringlands at any time. You

will have to limit it to 80rwkw and keep boost under 10psi. Shaun ex apprentice built one

using my old parts (cam, turbo, intercooler) on a 5 k , it made 100rwkw on 12psi.

Mine made 156rwkw on pump fuel:), arguably the worlds most powerful toyota K motor.

LOL yeh nice..... nothings has really progressed apart from some C__T cutting me off 2 days ago and now i'm up for a new bummper, lights(well U Pull it) and some handy pannel work to be done by myself, but apart from that i was thinking of only putting on a webber and exhaust and maybe just keep it reliable.

But 156kw out of a 5k would have been some REAL NICE fun!

    • Thanks for that.... If only I could do something once and be happy with that, like some people do....
    • I had no transmission at all so I managed to find a big box manual gearbox from an R34 GTT for an insanely good price in EU. I converted it to push type which cost more than the transmission almost, with parts from Amayama! These engines are very strong and can put out decent power with a properly sized turbo. You can save on money from parts like pistons and rods, and invest those in the transmission and other parts. I suggest you join the RB20 Enthusiasts facebook group, plenty of info and almost daily posts there about 20DE/DET/Neo+T builds. (I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules by mentioning third party platforms, just trying to help the buddy out)
    • Yeah, having tried all of those methods including BBQ+recipro/hacksaw, I ended up buying a bush press kit under $150 that works well, like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/355967727167?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=sfmmuhxgqhm&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=dJvnaZ11TB-&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY It basically has a range of pushers and cups with threaded rods between to press out a range of large bushes. The problem with any sawing solution is minimising damage to the subframe side, although it probably needs a quick sand afterwards no matter what solution you try due to damage
    • Hi. Thanks for the answer. I do not have instagram 😄 I too considering turbo the RB20DE NEO 🙂 But i think i upgrade the gearbox first or at least buy new.
