B0oStEr
This style of manifold seems to be available all over the place. Are some better quality than others? Most are ss304 are they available in ss321? Has anyone fitted one of these? How effective would one be with a 2530 or a highflow? Cubes
2530, don't waste the money on a manifold. The stock item is well up to the task for that power level. lukits01
Then when should you ever consider using a manifold like this? Is there an advantage of using it at all? R31Nismoid
when you get over 300rwkw i'd think about it. the money can be better spent elsewhere below that IMO. 180bfj20det
I say a good manifold is never a waste because it can always be beneficial down the track which most of us seem to go down these days. However, like others have said, another manifold is not needed and THAT manifold you have shown us I would NEVER touch. What a piece of crap. If you get an aftermarket manifold, Id never go for anything less than equal-length runners... and that crappy manifold you have a pic of has three runners collecting into one runner far before the collecting flange. A big no-no (it create hot spots and associated irregular thermal expansion*) if you dont want your manifold to crack, especially in this case being stainless steel. * reference maximum boost by corky bell Edited August 9, 2006 by 180bfj20det Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/129582-this-manifold-vs-stock/#findComment-2397133 Share on other sites
Cubes
I know of one person who has blew a hole in one of the above cheapo manifolds at a track day. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/129582-this-manifold-vs-stock/#findComment-2397136 Share on other sites
AzzurrA
have a look at the manifolds that 6boost offers... have heard some good things about them (i.e. decent quality and the guy has actually put some research into the design of them) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/129582-this-manifold-vs-stock/#findComment-2397143 Share on other sites

R31Nismoid
can you honestly say its the best way to spend $1200? regardless of the quality and the (if any) gain your going to get? Its cost vs gain, and quite simply for the money there are far better (and proven) things to spend that money on. AzzurrA
i would only buy a manifold like these if i was chasing BIG horsepower (or i had LOTS of money to throw around at useless stuff) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/129582-this-manifold-vs-stock/#findComment-2397255 Share on other sites

infected flow
when you get over 300rwkw i'd think about it.the money can be better spent elsewhere below that IMO. I have to disagree with this statement anything over 250rwkw and wanting 300+ u should change the manifold...i dont know where everyone gets this idea from where the standard is fine up untill 300 ive tried the standard with my r34 and it was choking at 250 and boost was not holding all the way to 8000rpm droped off at 6500 with a 2835!... Changed the manifold and bang! more power everywhere and held boost! did i just enter a shit fight..ahahah Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/129582-this-manifold-vs-stock/#findComment-2410355 Share on other sites
Cubes
infected flow, nar no shit fight... The stock manifold tends to 'really' hit a brick wall at around if not slightly before 300rwkw. But as you said... good gains can be had earlier. The crappy china manifold the op is comparing to shiet and worth while sticking with the stock manifold. What manifold did you go with out of curiosity? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/129582-this-manifold-vs-stock/#findComment-2410379 Share on other sites

One of them is a NEO motor to boot. Even if 8000rpm on stock bolts is a bit dangerous I'd think you had and issue somewhere else, and by changing the manifold, the issues was indirectly fixed from the following. Exhaust size/flow Int gate flow issues, or related bad dump design choking it Poor boost control or otherwise. There is a lot associated with a dropoff, and the manifold is often blamed incorrectly in some cases. Not all. Just my thoughts.
