The 250k you've been quoted is probably for getting the top-of-the-range 4wd dyno, PLUS the costs associated with setting up a room so you can actually run it.

the cost of it isn't just for the dyno itself, its for all the crap that goes with it. like a wideband o2 sensor, osciliscope, and all the computer software that goes with it.

just go to some industrial auctions. you may find a second hand 1. might not be that accurate for power runs, but good for tuning.

also you can pick up car hoists for about $1000 from them. a mate got 1 for $600. he just needs a shed to put it in now.
