Is This True About Fmic & Unshielded Pods?

hey I was speaking to this guy who works for a performance shop and reckons that if you have a fmic cooler and running stock to 10psi then a unshielded pod would not be such a prob cause the FMIC fights against detonation and also gives you a louder induction noise. I thought that a unshielded pod even with a fmic would cause heatsoak and lose power. he told me to go apexi pod cause they filter the best so a shield or cold box would not be neccesary. any comments on this

heat soak is always an issue, especially sitting at the lights. The FMIC will reduce temps but not to the extent to negate partitioning the airfilter from the hot side.

and the density of the hot air that the turbo is trying to compress means that it has to work harder, which makes it even hotter.
