What Series Head?

i bought a rb25 head with vct how can i tell what series it is ? all i got was the head and cams no covers or manifolds

it's irrelevant anyway, as if you disregard the small difference in coils then there is no difference between the two.

both series 1 and 2 have vct...but like macgyver said physcially the heads are the same...so it doesnt matter...

well the cams are different bewteen pre sept 97 and post sept 97 series 2 motors

hence the 2 different part numbers

what does the exhaust cams CAS area look like? like the key fitting ..

that would be the only difference between them, all other bolt on parts are the same etc

change to old cams and use pre cas? would that work perhaps if it is even a problem?

im pretty sure the base circle is the same on the cams so that would work

it looks like half a moon shape ..does that help

trying to confirm, but the series one motors have the half moon connection, i THINK the S2 ones have a star type drive on the CAS

umm i thought they had a star drive around the outside and the inside had the half moon to marry up to the opp half moon on the end of the cam.

my series one head and cams have the half moon connector, it is 100% a series one head too.

99% of the RB cams have the star at the base and the halfmoon on top.
