The other problem is they lie. You ask them if they got tyres in a certain size and they'll say yes, but if you show up there's no guarantee they will have them.

you'll find alot of people do this to get the customers into their shop to buy something else, its not just them.

I tend to agree with "what you pay is what you get" comments. That place generally sells their stuff cheaper than others on market (either quality or rice products) so I wouldn't expect much in terms of their customer service department. However, if I were treated that way I would definitely get upset and let others know as well. Just bad luck mate.

I'm amazed at this !! They SPIT on him ?!?!?! Un f&*#in believeable !! :)

I'd better say something here because I may have chosen my words poorly. When the staff member was shouting at my brother, spittle was flying out of his mouth and into my brother's face. It wasn't a full spit-in-the-face thing and I apologise for giving the wrong impression. The reason I mentioned it was to convey how emotional the staff member was and how intense the situation began.

As I've gone and made this thread and you've taken the time to read it, I want to make sure the facts are straight :)

wow that sucks. I go there often for the prices but there is no excuse for abuse.

BTW out of say 6 times I have bought tyres there they managed to fit wrong tyres once and wrong size once. So if you do get there make damn sure you get what you pay for

I've not had a problem (that I know of perhaps I need to check the job they did!!) in my experiences there, theyre prices for the tyre I was after was too appealing to go elsewhere...

My car was too low to get balanced there however, and the guys couldn't actually engage the clutch properly (stalled it 3 times without moving it from the spot) so I had to drive it... but thats standard procedure with anyone jumping in my car rather than suggested incompetence....

So to summarise, I've not had a problem there, however the place does appeal as one where if a problem does surface it would turn into quite the negative experience.

LOL, we have a greek guy at work like that :) When he get's rather excited and emotional, he tends to speak at a million miles an hour, without taking a breath, and essentially turns into a human sprinkler. Amusing to watch but unpleasant to experience.

Although I don't condone the way they behaved, I think we all have a variation of that story to tell. Hell I even had a pretty severe altercation with a business trader on THIS forum but it's all over and done now and I just deal with someone else :(

Anyway, I've found that with TT, you should always try to go there at a more quiet time of the day ( like 1-2pm on a weekday ) if possible. That's usually when things are more calm.

been there, guess since im a croat and used to the "wog thing" it all seemed natural, im used to younger fellas tlking like that, its no particular insult, comes of arrogant. anyway, great price, they treated me like any other customer i guess, haggle on prices, eventually gave me what i wanted which was fair, took him ages to get there but anyways. I stood in line, got my car up there, they put it on and were careful enough, came and told me id need spacers etc, even told me they were illegal, told them what type to use (what type of metal etc) they wrapped my old rims and i jumped in the back to put them in myself to make sure they didnt break shit, the guy was careful anyways.

before they pulled the car off the platform hoist but just about done bolting up the rims i asked what the price was to get the alignment etc, told me the mechanic was gone for the day and he couldnt get them done and put out his hand for a shake, looked like he was saying something so i shook his hand smiled and got the misses in the car an went home, got a wheel alignment from a different joint, maybe he was beeing nice eh ? either way he was the younger fella running the shop that day and not the big boss in the office so either way they were ok with me and id go back. they didnt talk any other kind of shit to me that any other salesmen wouldnt and didnt act anything more than busy so meh aye

Thanks for the info regarding spitting being an offence, I'll pass it on. I haven't spoken to him since when it happened, not sure if he has reported it to Police or Fair Trading.

As I've replied in a few pms, I appreciate that there should be a majority of customers that are satisfied or they would have to cease operation due lack of business. I was just appalled by the way they treated a customer - there's the old proverb about that which you do unto the least of my brothers...

To Nick and the other guys that said yeah great price, poor service: Fair point, however to me poor service is to not use a paper floormat and seat cover when moving my car. En masse shouting and jeering at a customer because he is concerned about accepting the make good offer and coming up short is not poor service, it's about as low as you can go.

Cheers for the support guys. I'm keen to take my business to places that look after you, like UAS and CRD, and starve the deadbeat companies out work.

My personal feeling is fair enough others might have had ok experiences. To me that doesn't factor, because that's hiding behind the statistics and hoping you aren't the 1/10th person. BULLSHIT to that.

I think people need to remember that collectively SAU has some buying power - we should reward companies that treat us all well.

So this time and any other I'll vote with my wallet as SAUers collectively have been treated!

Better prices or not. If I want to buy wheels, I beleive it should be a pleasant experience. I should be looking forward to it. I'll be like yipppeee, I'm finally getting wheels.

I don't want to be like oh no, i have to deal with them f**ks again.

Besides, their prices are ok, but there are better/similar with better service.

You only have to deal with them once, and then you can take all the money you saved and spend it elsewhere. It is quite difficult to find people to even match their prices.

I'll put up with quite a bit for low prices, but I'm only interested in a quality product....which is why I don't buy wheels from the Temple of Chrome.

well. im just gonna say this.(not ofence intended to anyone)

but.. i personaly come across as somewhat of a honky redneck so yeah. ive not expected much from them either. other than them telling me that falken 326 tyres are "really grippy"

im a mechanic. and anyone who has been to tafe in an automotive trade will know what im talking about. meaning us "skippy poofters" just dont get the same service as our "western oriental gentalmen" variety of people.

needless to say the only time ive gone there is just for tyres. back before i knew anybetter. its handy when where you work has alll the fascilities for tyre changing.

but more to the point. that display this mob aledgedly had done is not only ilegal but pretty much against all work ethics the department of fair tradingcomands. if i was to do this at my weekend job at autobarn. not only would i get sacked. but my boss would loose the franchise and id be sued for losses.

but just a nice perfectly legal trick you can play is to call work cover. cos i can bet my left testicl that they would NOT COMPLY to the standard workplace safty reqirments.

so was everyone wearing steel capped shoes? non baggy clothing? an up to date first aid kit? safty markings on all the hoists, hoists up to date seriving? fire drill? and pretty much all other safty reqirements.

cos if all of those points listed above do carry a on the spot fine.

gotta love a spot audit  f**kem they smell and i really dont like there attitude in general. completly un satisfactory.

Rang up asking for pricing and availibility on some Falken RS-V04 tyres. Guy on the phone told me they had one set left in stock for that size and if I wanted them I could pay over the phone with credit card. So I transferred just enough into my visa debit account (I dont trust over the phone cc sales), rang back and paid for them and said I would be up the next day to collect them (I live in Canberra).

Drive up there the next day, arrive and low and behold they dont have the tyres there and the guy tells me they havent had those tyres in stock for at least 2 months.

Asked for a refund on the spot, guy said he would trade them for a set of Falken Zeix tyres for the same price (changing semi-slicks to shit road tyres, thats fair...). I politely said no and I would appreciate a refund. Thats when things went down the crapper and I got abused and told they didnt have to provide a refund if they could provide a similar tyre for the same price. After explaining that I was told on the phone they had the tyres I wanted, driving 3 hours to find out they didnt, being offered a bottom of the range road tyre as a replacement for a semi-slick and being far from impressed, I got my refund, sworn at and told never to come back again.

No worries guys, I have no intention of ever returning to enjoy your special version of customer service!

Another satisfied customer... :( That sucks moreso as you drove so far only to be stuffed around :(

As a side note:

TRADE PRACTICES ACT 1974 - SECT 58

Accepting payment without intending or being able to supply as ordered A corporation shall not, in trade or commerce, accept payment or other consideration for goods or services where, at the time of the acceptance:

(a) the corporation intends:

(i) not to supply the goods or services; or

(ii) to supply goods or services materially different from the goods or services in respect of which the payment or other consideration is accepted; or

(b) there are reasonable grounds, of which the corporation is aware or ought reasonably to be aware, for believing that the corporation will not be able to supply the goods or services within the period specified by the corporation or, if no period is specified, within a reasonable time.

There is also a section in the NSW Sale of Goods Act that states that if the seller provides goods that are not of the type, quality, standard, etc. specified in the agreement, then the buyer has the right to accept or reject the substitute. I can't find the reference at the moment but I remember reading it a while back.

If this rubbish excuse for service is so common, how do these guys still operate?? It defies logic.

been there quite a few times never had an issue, although i am 100% sure that customers could have issues with them being the way they are!

what i dont get it why you guys dont actually do anything about it? why not send them a friendly letter perhaps from your solicitor?

is it because you think its not worth it? cowie165 and especially amaru that really sucks!

just for fun ill mention that last time i was there with a friend getting some good tyres for cheap(as you do) we asked about camber kits, they said its basically impossible to do on an s15(friends car) and if they could do it it would cost around $1000 (actual cost including parts under $300)

seems that they only know how to lower cars(minimum 4inches) and sell cheap tyres :D
