Will 215,225 Tyres Fit On A Rim With A Width Of 9

was just wondering

would a tyre 215 or 225 fit on a rim with a width of 9

or would they have to be streched?

They will fit, but they will be stretched.

yeah but they'd be very stretched.

proper size for a 9" rim is 255 or 265. I've had 235 on my 9" rims with no dramas before, dont think i'd try any less than that though

I went "tyre shopping" this morning, and got some tech specs on B/S G IIIs.

Approved rim size for 215/45x17 is 7" - 8"

Approved rim size for 225/45x17 is 7" - 8.5"

Approved rim size for 225/40x18 is 7.5" - 9"

These figures are based on the 2002 ed of Tyre & Rim Assoc of Oz Standard Manual.

i've fitted 215/45R17 onto 9" rims before, bit harder to blow up than normal, but still do able, not approved though.

All you need is a 16" bicycle tyre tube to fill the gap between the bead and about 10 seconds

and they will go on like a champ!

They look great and work well, stretch for the win! Bulge for the lose!

p.s. I have lowered my car since this pic so don't worry...
