the bigger the wheel, the sh*tter the ride. i have 20" wheels on my R33, and while there is no rubbing etc and the wheels sit under the guards, ie slammmed hard, the ride is hardly comfortable...

i put my stock 16s back on and it rides so good now! 18s with dish are the ideal wheel for a R33 i reckon.

As for tyre size, the 235 tyre may be too wide with a 19" rim. I know that if i fit 235 tyres to my 20s, i need to shave a suspension arm slightly to make them fit. the 225s i have on there at the moment are fine though.

here is some pics of mine with big wheels, looks hot but comfort is certainly lost....

WTF? :)

I have 19's, previous tyres were 245(f) and 275®. Only ever had minor rubbing of plastic gaurd liner (not gaurd).

I personally really like the grey rims on your photoshop pics, just looks more racer. All depends is you are after bling or a race style look. As you can see i am VERY partial to dark rims ;)

What are the width of the rims? If you can get 8"(f) and 9"®, then tyres will be 235(f) and 255/265®, that will be ideal. If rims are 8" wide all round, stick with 235 all round. Hankook K104 or K107 are pretty good for a cheap tyre, i have been using them for the last 4yrs.

mate id go the gun metal, or even just silver.

gold rims look good on white and black cars but anything else and i think they look shit. maybe blue cars are ok

gun metal and gun metal i think would look a lil washed out, i hate chrome, but a nice set of silver wheels would be good on gun metal car, make it stand out a bit

Thanks :P

Colour is off the '96 Ford Mustang; It's a 3 layer perl, called: Lazer Red.

off topic -

Al, what colour is your car? doesnt look like the factory maroon..

those rims suit it very nicely too!

i still say gunmetal too sammie :P

honastly, they both dont suite the car at all, and i think most ppl feel the same i dont think they want to tell ya, they dont suite a SKYLINE i would put them on a hatchpack, a GTI a GTIR or a CRX, more of a rally type, but the best best wheels i've seen that suite that colour, deeb dish shadow chromes, they looked awsome, but if you've only got these 2 to chose from i would go with the grey, the gold is way 2 much. dont take it personal champ just saing what i think, half of the pplz that have seen my car dont like my wheels, but i liek em so dont matter/....

R33-Lovr---apologies

keep in mind its dark,

R33-Lovr - if everyone thought they didnt suit the car, im sure they would have told him, its not like its going to affect us if we tell him we dont like them?

personally i like his rim choice better than yours, but thats a personal thing.

and sammie - i mean a gold edge around the rim.. ill see what i can knock up in photoshop :)

edit: like this perhaps?

I reckon they both look great! Go the gold ones if you want, but be aware the will be covered in brake dust and always look dirty.

Or go the gunmetal ones and spray your calipers gold, that way the rims wont look dirty from brake dust, well much, and when you are driving along your calipers will stick out like dogs balls, being the only gold thing on the car :)

Just my opinions :) Either way, it's a bloody nice rim!

mitch u done a dodgy job but i can see what you mean lol ! and thats quite a good idea looks real good wander where i could get a place to do that and r33 lovr i understand what your sayiing if anyone doesnt like the rims i dont mind if they say all good =)

R33-Lovr please speak for yourself and not other people that you don't even know :) . I like his rim choice, and just prefer the grey colour. Your rim choice is also good, and is actually not far off Sammie's rim style. I even like the Advans in your avartar :).

My taste in rims vary greatly, but in general i really dislike big, bling bling, chromies on Skylines. It all depends on the car and colour the rims are being fitted to.

big bling, and 3 spoke rims are my pet hates :)

i used to dislike multispoke rims too.. until the car i bought had a set attached, now i love them :)

do they make those rims in any other colour sammie? or is it just gold and gun metal?

    • Can you log IAT? Whilst WTA coolers have their place, doing any sort of sustained run is not one of them There are fixes that slow down the heat soak, like ice boxes, which don't last that long, and interchillers, which are fairly expensive, up grades to the WTA cooling radiator, which may require a bigger pump, and upgrades to the reservoir size,  and upgrades to the cooling fans, but, it all still heat soaks, and takes ages to come down in hot weather  For a turbo, that isn't locked into WTA like my PD blower is, can you not possibly swap to a nice air to air intercooler????, it would be better for sustained runs then, and have alot less things that could go wrong in my opinion
    • So, the other thing I've sorted is a baseline dyno run up at Unigroup's new location. The auto trans was a little unco-operative by both shifting down when the throttle was floored on the dyno (so Mark had to ramp it up more slowly than in a manual) and also by shifting up at 6,000 even in sports mode instead of the indicated redline of 7,000 Still, on a hot day it made 240rwkw at 16psi which seems about right for 300kw (400hp) through an auto at the wheels.  The shape of the curve is not quite right because it was not full throttle to about 4,500 to stop it kicking down, but until I can get a tune on the auto trans control this was the best we could do.....full boost will be well below 5,000 once that is sorted, I'll get some data logs when I can to confirm For comparison, the R32 made 255 at 12psi (at 4,500) on the same dyno with tune, n1 turbos, cam gears, big exhaust but otherwise all standard so the v37 is likely a little better out of the box. One thing that is very clear is that the standard water to air intercoolers are not up to sustained use at full throttle in warm ambient temps. After about 5 runs (so only a few minutes full throttle), it was pulling boost and timing and dropping 10-15% power. Unfortunately I didn't get that printout and the Unigroup guys are away at the moment, will try and get hold of it on their return. So, looks like a healthy engine to start modifying and the only real area of concern is the w2a heat exchangers which the aftermarket has plenty of solutions for
    • I maintain it actually looked really nice in person. So much so that I thought "No, this is illegal" but there it was, clear as day. I think we can easily call the wing and wheels/height to be transformative. Not saying it's better than the GR Whatever, or the 86, or the WRX STI or anything of that sort (the internet says it all bolts up so you can buy best of all worlds?) but it's still at least a thing and not nearly AS bad as people say.
    • That's less offensive than the previous gen.....except for all that ugly black tupperware around the edges. Blerck!
    • I leant out the window recently and took a picture of this new WRX. It looked real damn fine in person. It's faster around a track (stock) than a (stock) GR Yaris. It's much more practical despite being heavier. It's significantly cheaper. This gen tunes really well, much better than others. .... I think they're probably a lot better than people expect.
