New Hsv Range

the front 1/4 view from low down looks like a ba/bf

the rear end doesnt work - although that pic in the garage looks pretty sexy - big ass tyres, smoking zorst

it kinda looks like a ba/bf front - side combo mixed with a bit o 380/magna rear end side - if u get my drift

even so - it is one mean mufu fcuker of an engine

my cuz has a 2005 vz hsv gts 297 - he didnt like the sound, so he got a zorst and tractors put on - and holy mothertrucker this things sound and goes pretty sweet

one smart move is too the zf 6speed auto

very nice smooth and smart gearbox - and has shorter ratios than the old t56 tremec 6speed man (cruising @ 100kmh in 6th doesnt work ~ revs at bout 1000rpm; one can cruise @ 80km/h in 3rd)

then just imagine if that engine had the same technology as the ford v8s

that sort of combo could be putting out 350+kw (holden still use SOHC with pushrod tech i believe whereas ford are using SOHC for normal and DOHC with vct in the fpv's)

even so nissan/ford>holden (nissan and ford arent the same its just that they deal in different areas) (id take a fpv f6 tornado and a r33 gtr thanks :) - one for work and one for play :) )

Few things to clear up here. For starters there was no VZ GTS. You probably mean the Clubsport, and the LS2 sounds a whole lot sweeter then the LS1 i agree.

The 6 speed auto isnt a ZF its a GM unit, the 6L60E, which although isnt quite as good as the ZF is still a mean gearbox.

Im sure it isnt the "technology" thats preventing Holden from putting out 350 kw. I mean they could do a simple edit, but thenn theyd have emission problems etc, plus there wouldnt be a lot of headroom for a future power path. Holden also doesnt use SOHC, they use OHV (over head valve), the SOHC Ford is the 220kw version in the ghias, and theyre pretty crappy. The DOHC engine is used in the XR8 (not FPV) and the GT and GT-P

Check the price bracket...its pretty good value for money IMO.

yeah great value ..especially at $1.50 per ltr for fuel and the price is only going one way...tried to sell a V8 lately??..its a dinosaur.....allthough if they spent another $billion on development they might get close to a 2ltr lancer evo ..but i doubt it :P:laugh:

Not talking about petrol prices.

Build quality and reputation aside, a new HSV that costs around 80 K gives most new BMWs a run for their money (as far as acceleration times are concerned) which are usually 2 or even 3 times the price. This is the reason why there will always be a market for them...

front end on the clubbie/gts is very ba gt ish, overall nice car but if i had one i would put omega panels, lights, etc. on it. and an LS7. caprice interior too.

although ford copy holden more than holden copy ford (like the gold colour on the ba after it was used as a vx colour, ba taillights look like vx & au hybrid, the green colour for had on some ba's after holden had hothouse, etc.).

I wouldn't class the LS1/LS2 a dinosaur, its had more R&D than our mighty RB's.

No DOHC, oh it must be a dinosaur, lol.

It can't be compared to a 2ltr evo anyway... They are two different completely cars aimed at two different markets.

The evo gets the credit it deserves but at the end of the day its still a 4banger.

Why bother explaining these things to narrow minded 'car enthusiasts', who most probably have never driven a HSV, let alone a VE HSV??

I have a 180sx and have recently bought a VX Clubby. The simple fact is there are no direct competitors, bar FPV, for what these cars are designed to do for under $150k. Simple.

A big car that is quick, comfortable, looks good (personal opinion), can carry five 6 foot plus adults in complete comfort for under 200k. Damn good value in my opinion. And they sound great too :P

    • Welcome.  Glad to hear that you have gained some knowledge that has helped you. I believe the only fix for the power steer belt is an electric conversion with a Holden astra pump. If you get a chance, post pics of your car, please. 🙂

    • to have this type of adjustment possible with a curve as I wish, what budget (engine) should be planned?

    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
