i've put an rb25det into a 180sx and everything is wired up and working.

the loom seememd to have a few extra plugs on it that a normal r33 doesn't seem to have and i have no idea what the computer came from, but it all seemed to bolt up with only minor modifications that an auto electrician did.

now the problem i'm having is that i can't set the timing correctly. with a timing light set up on the motor and the crank angle sensor retarded as much as possible it still reads +20 degrees timing and the car wont run. to get it to run i have to advance the timing as much as possible on teh CAS which reads way off the dial on the crank so i don't even know what timing it is running.

the car runs fine but isn't making any power. its running 14psi and only feels to be making around 150 to 160rwkw. obviously the timing is causing problems.

what i want to know is what could be causing the timing to be soo far out. i've checked the belt and timing marks and its all installed correctly, i've checked that the piston is on TDC when the marking on teh crank sais it is and its all perfect. the CAS on the RB25 can only go in one way.

the only thing i can think of is that its an automatic computer running the manual and its cuasing problems somewhere, or the only other thing i can think of is that i don't have one of the knock sensors hooked up (the front one is hooked up but the back one isn't).

i've checked the timing belt and its all perfect.

the only sensor that isn't hooked up is one of the knock sensors

and yes obviously the computer is really retarding teh timing for some reason...

does anyone know why it would be?

you must have both knock sensors hooked up. If not then the computer will go into knock retard. You will have nothing until about 4800rpm then it will hit you in the arse til about 6k and dies off severely.

what is the wiring that goes to teh knock sensor supposed to look like?

reason i ask is because it seems to be 2 wires that have a single shielded wire that goes to the knock sensor and then an earthed wire that is wraped around that shielded single wire that goes to nothing. its just an earth wire that goes to teh computer... should it go to teh knock sensor too?

both wires are the same.
