Speed Limiter Question

Can somebody tell me if the speed limiter signal is activated from the speedo mechanism to the ECU when it hits 180 or from the RPM limiter?

its got nothing to do with rpm. it is the signal from the gearbox to the ecu. i don't know which wire it is that you cut though. a bit of a search through here will tell you though.

if you put in a power fc doesnt that take the 180 limit away?

I'm only asking this because there is a 300km/h speedo I'm looking at buying and the guy says it removes the ECU's 180km/h "speed limiter".

I was sceptical about it so I asked him how does it acheive this.

His reply was:

"when your speedo in the stock issue hits 180 it tells the ecu you are at max and pulls the pin on the detonation so you are speed/rev limited the 300 kmh speedo doesnt have this signal back to the computer and there fore doesnt signal the engine to hold at 180 'the speedo is the limiter' in simple"
