so i have made my own earthing system, and i wanted to add in a voltage stabiliser module...

where can i buy a module on its own (cheap!)?

i tried jaycar but they said the only ones they have only handle about 1 amp and that's not suitable for a car is it?

i don't want to buy a brand kit because that's just a waste of money in my opinion...

can anyone help?

cheers,

Warren

why do u want/need one of the things? any problems (dimming lights etc) or just want to do it?

while on the topic, does anyone know what the internals of those things are? alot of the car audio guys dont both with them i dont think... just use much better earthing

In my opinion voltage stabilisers are unnecessary if your electrical system is in good condition.

Revs rise and fall with electrical usage because of increased load on the alternator not because the voltage drops. A stabiliser won't have much of an effect on this.

If you run a race car without an alternator then you need something like this to maintain a fixed voltage as your battery runs down.

Very pricy but I wouldn't want to try and make one.

The output voltage of the alternator is controlled by the voltage regulator. They are usually a pretty stable device in any car built since 1980. Are you sure you have a voltage problem? Have you checked the voltage stability of your car? A cheap multimeter will do that (~$20 from SupaCheap), a quite usefull device to have in your tool kit. Or a Consult interface to talk to your ECU (~$50 on the Group Buy forum) an even more usefull device. Both unlike an aftermarket voltage stabiliser which is basically useless. If you truly have a problem, then you will have to replace the voltage regulator and/or the alternator anyway.

:D cheers :D

SK..

no i'm not sure its a voltage problem at all..

just something that i thought might help but i'm not fused whether it works at all..

i have nissan datascan + ECU interface cable so can monitor my voltages if i want to on the fly...

i might just stick to the grounding kit that i made (basically i just made about 6 grounds between important grounding points...)

thanks all for your help!
