generic garrets for $3K is not that great a price. for a very small amount more you could get a brand new set of HKS 2530s which come with gaskets, studs, lines etc. or for almost exactly $3K you could get a genuine HKS GT-SS kit which also comes with everything needed to install them. $3K for garretts is all well and good, but then you have a couple of hundred bucks, and some stuffing around to get all the bits needed to fit them.

if you want my advice this is what I would add to your current set-up.

either HKS GT-SS or GT 2530 kit

Power FC

Sard 700cc injectors

Nismo fuel pump

nismo fuel reg

tomei sump baffle kit

tomei type B pon-cam + cam gears

nismo airflow meters (or VG30 meters if you want)

This package will give you a meaty 300kw+ with very nice response when tuned properly. This is the secret, light tune GTR recipe for success. and it's been cooked up time and time again always with good results. oishi desu ne.

Tekin - to answer your questions about the workshop it's called Boostworx and has a very good rep in Adelaide and with SAU members (we run dyno days there). I'm not really considering the S15 turbos but wanted to know if others had heard of this conversion as I never had. The $1100 price was for a new turbo.

I've pretty much put together a kit list and am scouting prices from different places. I'll put them in a spreadsheet and post them later to assist other who embark on this journey.

I cant remember if you had dump pipes yet, but if not now is the time to do it. If you dont have $$$$ i would suggest a set of HKS ones, or if there is a little more spear coin around go with the trust ones (come with front pipes too).

Ever tried fitting these bastards? I wouldn't use them , they are a pain in ass to fit , they have nowhere to fix the turbo brackets either. They are good if you use their own turbos though . If you fit these in your car while you have the turbos out, take the rubber air/cond discharge pipe out and replace it with copper, if you dont it will fry in no time..

Like Blitz said HKS are a direct fit and you can use the turbo brackets on them just like the stock dumps.

You have missed the following.

New lines, Braided oil(smaller lines than the originals)

New water lines,also connected to the Turbo's

Gasket sets for Manifolds and turbo's.

If I get HKS turbos these are included in the kit?

The HKS kits include everything you need :ninja:

You dont need new lines ( braided lines will make fitting easier though when it comes to re-installing the banjos). I dont know about the garretts but i can confirm that HKS turbos come with restrictors. As said before you need less oil with the ball bearing turbos, if you dont put them in you risking your seals. Braided lines wont slow oil flow you must use these restrictors .

HKS GTSS turbos come with everything you need , even come with adjustable actuators so consider that when you compare prices .

As for the turbo choice it depends on what you want from your car. AS you have a stock engine i would only use small turbos, GTSS are ideal for that and keep boost low if you want your engine to last . If you use these turbos you only need 550 injectors and a good standard pump will be enough. Your pump is very old so upgrade to a Nismo unit to be on the safe side .Stock air flow meters would be ok.

I will be very surprised if you dont have any damage to the engine, my guess is some ceramic dust has gone in the engine and has scored the bore of the 3 rear cylinders ( i assume is was the rear turbo that went).

If you dont have any damage you are one of the lucky ones .

If you believe dyno figures my car made 290 rwkw with GTSS turbos , 550 injectors and 15psi , all stock unopened engine.

You can re-use your oil lines from the stock turbos but as i said above its easier to fit the banjos if you use braided lines cause they are flexible. Even with new lines you still need to use the oil restrictors though.

Just had a chat with Shaun at Boostworx. The leakdown test is scheduled for this afternoon so we'll see the engine's health.

But i think the manifold is one of those 2% things you need when your going for huge power.

Why are you buying the AFM's if you are going for the D-Jetro set up that does not need AFM's?
