Today I'm taking it to Queensland Raceway for a more serious shake down. I'm not looking to do a pb just want to see that it is all working and see how the stiffening has changed the feel and ballance of the car.

1.00.84 is the benchmark for this car on the sprint track so we will see how it goes on old tyres and a lower boost setting to try and avoid too much wheelspin and drifting. Somehow I think there may be plenty of the latter.

If that rain hangs about there won't be any shortage of the former! :)

Early in the week Gentle and Dessie are watching Option vids in the shed and want to go hit the track. Looking at the calander they notice there is a sprint meeting on Sat arvo. They download, print, fillout and fax back thier entries. turns out this is vital because it was booked out by wed arvo, 110 enteries.

They got to the track early to get a pit but they were all taken up by morning practice. Eventualy they found 2 spots close to each other.

Luckily the clouds parted and the sun shon down for the two cars to have some fun. Gentle has done this before and was put in group 2 with Evo's, WRX's, some GT3's aven a 32GTR and a few other Skylines. Dessie was in group 5 with a bunch of race cars of all breads.

Fun was had by all as both cars were on normal street tyres. There was plenty of accidental sliding, well, sort of accidental. Gentle got down to 1 tenth of a second from her previous best time which was set on semi-slick track tyres.

Dessie jumped back on the trailer and Gen her followed home.

changes to shck setting seam to be more precise and it all just seams to work now. feels nice to drive.

Good stuff.

How's the tune now, you were having problems at first were you not???

it is ok, I think the turbo didn't like the 2 year sit in the shed. It is an old plain bearing oil cooled t300 garrett with an external gate. Ill up grade it after easter and get some bigger injectors. Obviously some re tuning is on the cards too.

I have taken it to a drift test day at QR thursday week ago. I did'nt it to stand out toomuck so i went less wing and side steps. The seting up and fine tuning worked extreemly well, esp when you concide I havn't done any drifting for 2 years. The Sundar comp on the otherhand was a disaster.

1st run there was a masive oil leek while accelerating or cornering hard. this was linked to me not being careful enough with the gasket when putting the cam cover back on.

2nd run the conecter hose from the turgo to the intercooler piping poped off. that was a hot one to fix. All in all I lost about 2 hours of practice and qualifing time. then came the ballance of the thing.

The return of the wing upset the front and rear grip ballance. Same tyres and shock settings front and rear but totaly different when trying to slid. This coupled to the ppl who spun and spoiled the few good runs I had ment I didn't even qualify. I was disapointed in myself to say the least.

I took the wing off for the afternoon session and I had my car back. There was an astonishing diferance in the feel of the car.

This weekend we ar racing the Celica at the Gatton Street Sprints and most likely taking the Skyline to the Sat night drifting at QR. The Celica Sports an R32 GTR rear cradle with R33gtst diff axels and hubs, S13 shocks front and rear, R32 GTR brakes front and rear, modified R32 GTR turbos, laurel front lower control arms Not much toyota left. just the body.

Just thought I'd put an up date in, it's been a while.

I did get to run the car at the Gatton Street Sprints and managed ti win my class. It has been out to some more drift events and setup is getting better. The turbo that I thought might have been on the way out is fine, just needed a good flogging. Took it to a dyno to tidy up some maps and came away with 342rwhp on 14 psi.

This weekend will be my first propper race meeting against other cars and everything. (I know it souns lame but I couldn't think how else to say it) Iv'e entered the JDM series in the Queensland Raceway Championships. So new semislicks, brake pads & fluid etc. should be fun. I've also entered for the QLD V NSW super sprints at Carnell raceway in Stanthorpe and the Wheels on wide bay sprints up at marybourough.

All in all its a lot of fun atm. Injectors and a better braking system are next for upgrades.
