Sometimes you have to just do what you are told :rant:

Besides, we've tortured our friends for too long with climbing in the back of 2 doors. 5 cars in the driveway and all 2 doors (well the Lynx is a 3 door hatch).

apparently HKS stop the production of z35 supercharger kit :P

The word is they've stopped selling it in the USA. They've ended their contract with Rotrex to source the compressor, and because they've hit intellectual property issues with their replacement blower they are only selling it in Japan.

You might be able to find the kit second hand, or get one imported from Japan. There's a guy in the US developing a Rotrex-based supercharger kit in the US at the moment, but we'll see how that one goes.

The HKS supercharger sounds the business, though. There's this massive sucking noise when you get on the power, and it flutters if you lift off quickly.

It pulls around 220rwkW with an aftermarket exhaust, which isn't too bad. The power delivery is so progressive, though, that aside from the induction noise I couldn't feel a difference when I drove a 350Z with one (mind you I only revved it out in first).

300rwkw is extreemly impressive for any stock internal factory engine typycal of nissan still over engineering engines got to love it.

I just find that comment ironic because all the US guys etc are whinging about how weak the bottom end is, that it "only" handles 300rwkW or around 9psi reliably.

Americans would probably be comparing it to there, LS2/LS6 engines etc with much larger capacity and outright hp to begin with.

My 350Z has an HKS Exhaust and it pulls probably better than my R33 skyline that has 250rwhp ..... the 350Z goes on the dyno on sept 16 so will share figures. I will put an airpod on it soon.

Then that will have to do for a while as buying this car has made me very broke girl.

Haven't driven the GT yet, but reports are it handles better than the Z which I was not overly impressed with when I drove one. Engine was OK but no top end. Handling was underster with stab control on and too snappy without but you get that with short wide cars, inherently unstable. Punchy engine down low though. Certainly heaps better than the RX8 I caned around last week. The owner of the 8 needed a GTR reality check after and just kept wetting himself everytimg he floored the gas pedal. He's still dribbling.

Hope you still like it though Lauren. It's all about personal taste so ignore us.

I'm still leaning toward the 350Z myself, but it'll come down to $$$ in the end I think. I want to get the TT sorted pretty much straight away, with a new house and a wedding in the wind....testicles don't grow on trees LOL

I didn't find the Z to be that snappy when I first drove it. I found that it was the other way, too ponderous and slow to react (but I did come out of a hot hatch, which is much lighter, and had been test driving S15s). It does understeer though. A lot. But most factory cars do.

I drove an auto V35 350GT coupe when I took my Z in to get some work done, and I found it a much more muted and remote experience than the Z. My Z wasn't stock by then, but I found the V35 felt like a luxury car. The Z feels like a sports tourer. Its still weighty and civil, but more of a driver's car than the coupe.

Neither feel anything like a Silvia, Integra, or Evo when it comes to being a "proper" sports car. And I haven't driven a GT-R yet, and its been years since I've driven a GTS-t, to compare it with them.

Ah, the "drivers car" line always makes me laugh. With several hundred thousand kays of heavy and specialist loads driving, driving instructor for defensive and offensive military driving, sports sedans, formula ford, GTSt at track days, good performances in GTR at motorkhanas and rallying for 15 years I consider myself a "driver". Never once considered a Silvia or Integra a proper sports car. Both easy enough for a numpty to drive and the Integra is about the pick of FWD. You really need to try a GTR or M3 SMG, there is a massive gulf in performance and handling. But for me a drivers car is one that is comfortable and will easily handle long distances without tiring you but still deliver good handling and power. Say a Soarer V8 and they still do 1:58's at the Island on semi's. Race drivers look for something else again.

What I'm yet to confirm is if Nissan did start to setup all series 2 (for want of a better term) 350Z's with the euro spec suspension which really improved the car. In that case Laurens, and possibly the one you drove, will be a better car than the one I drove.

Anyway Lauren/Duncan/Kel are the only ones of us who is living with a Z, and Jimbo has the GT, on a daily basis so the real aspects of ownership are denied the rest of us. I think they are both good cars, and really nitpick when looking at something new until I'm satisfied I want it, but with the GT I just buy the car and do what I'm told.

Well my 350Z is a bit of a freak then cos one thing it certainly is not is unresponsive .... actually i've done the rounds of taking my mates for a drive and its scares the shizzle out of them (and me). It has to be as quick if not quicker than the skyline but when it goes on the dyno shall know for sure.

As for handling - i haven't really pushed the boundaries yet - id prefer to do that in a more controlled environment than works back streets but i've found it quite a road hugger - but if handling is the worst thing about it ..... that can all be changed rather easily >_< So far the worst thing about my car is that for an expensive sports car the interior is too plasticky .... i had a Z31 as my first car and i found the interior of that seemed to be a bit more "expensive" looking .... at least that had climate control where as the Z33's aircon controls remind me of my rav4!

I must say i've been nothing but impressed about the drive of my car ..... then again i did borrow a 350Z auto from work for a quick drive and i found that quite a bit slower and boring than the one im currently driving.

Haven't driven a GT yet but asthetically they just don't grab me.

    • People still have Skylines? I thought they're non-existent now. 
    • Harness update time have had great fun and learnt so much already so far with this project. I started off making both the ignition and injector sub harnesses in the hope any mistakes i made here aren't as hard to undo and learn from as the main harness.  A cool comparison of the old harness using presumably TXL wire and the new which is using Tezel. Also opted to use DTM plugs to keep the whole setup as neat and tidy as possible and tucked the wiring under the coil bracket to try and keep it all from sticking out too much. Although the injector harness, I'm not overly happy with as I'm still using the rubber boots that are supplied with the type of plugs it just looks ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb with the white identifiers so a slight redesign may be done.   Then it was main harness time and most importantly trying to route it nice and away from the heat it will use the OEM heater hose routing which is no longer present to keep the harness up high and secure. it's amazing how much smaller this harness is able to be compared to the old one. plugged everything into the emtron and with the help of the tuner again attempted to start it up and instantly fired up and running smoothly on all 6 which was a big shock to myself. So still some routing and adjusting to be done for the final fit up and installing a knock sensor harness plug which is in the post all has gone surprisingly well.     The old harness for shits and giggles.
    • They do that at random every now and then, with almost no detectable cause. Mine has done it a couple of times (over 25 years!!). Never worked out why.
    • I don't post on here and have been lurking for some time now. Many of the topics have helped me out more times than i can count. I was racing yesterday (11/9) and blew a front right CV shaft. I have spares so I popped a new one in. A thread i read previously said to check the engine mounts if you blow a front CV. Upon inspection, the front right mount was completely separated from the upper plate. This discovery saved me time and money, because i would have blown another CV if i went back out. Just wanted to thank you guys and wish everyone luck with with their builds. (Now if we could only come up with a solution for my power steering belt flying off after hitting the rev limiter, lol)
    • Either way he still need those style of spacer to go into the manifold because the photo he currently has is not going to work
