Why do you need one?

Do a search for "sydneykid turbo timer" and it all speaks for itself.

I have one, but it is always turned off now, thinking of removing it all together actually!

Tell you what, you can buy my Blitz TT? It has the autmatic timer thingy which measures the EGT and adds time as it see's fit, also has boost readings in it and all in all it not too bad a timer. $75 delivered?

the DAY i got my stagea i removed its turbo timer.

a turbo timer is a waste of cash unless you have a bush bearing turbo, in which case just hope you never stall when the car is HOT!

turbo timers are a waste of cash, useless with todays oils and bb turbos.

Hey AC - are you saying that if you have a bush bearing turbo, THEN a timer is worth using? (edit: in case of accidental hot-turbo shut off)

as it stands, the week I got my Stagea I turned off the timer......... but if I go to a bush bearing highflow turbo (dont flame me, its all I'll ever be able to afford me thinks), then maybe just maybe I should have it on ??

Yeah just make sure that the last 2-5mins of driving is done gently, this allows other things to cool too, like brakes.

Dont just "give her shit and pulling in the drive", give her shit but stop 2-5mins away from your destination and drive gently, thus allowing for cooling :P

I have a turbo timer and majority of the time mine sets itself and usually by the time im in the driveway it stays on for about 3 seconds...just as im about to get one kiddy out!

I like the fact i have it there, has a lot of extra features that come in handy not just the tt itself! I think at the end of the day some ppl dont like tt and some ppl swear by there tt.. :P

Also the auto function of the headlights doesnt work.

What I mean is that when you have no timer, and you have your headlights set to auto, when you turn your car off, and open the drivers door, the lights go off.

But with my timer, I would leave on auto and get out of the car, close the door and the motor would stop, and the lights are still on. So I would have to either turn the lights off manually or wait for the timer to go off and open the drivers door to let the auto function think the lights need to go off.

yeah i found that problem. the solution is to not use the auto lights. i think it's a bad habbit to get into because when i would get into my other car, i'd forget they're not auto and the battery would go flat

I thought you could do this anyway with the stagea...or is it only when the keys are still physically in the ignition (ignition off).

I know when i've turned the car off and left the windows down I can just press the window up button and it'll still go up.

I think the power to the windows etc stays on for a few seconds after you turn the car off (like it does on ford falcons etc).

I agree with everyone on turbo timers. If you're just driving home from work or something and haven't really thrashed it at all then the turbo's probably half asleep anyway. Its only really if you've been driving above 80-100km/h for a while and then stop like at a servo or on the side of the road (if you're on a long trip) - then you should probably leave the car running for a minute or so just to be safe.

Otherwise for driving round town or stopping for fuel in town etc it should be fine to just switch off. Heatwise it wont have cooled that much by the time you're back in the car and going again so its not that big a deal IMO.

Oh and I find the auto lights are annoying simply because they dont come on early enough in low light (after work etc). And I THINK that there are times when it puts the dash lights on but not the headlights?? so i'd be thinking my lights are on but they're not. I could be wrong on that but to be sure now i just switch them ON or OFF and ignore the auto setting. Alternatively I could put some tint or something over the light sensor but then I could end up with my lights on all the time... :(

Just a little off topic here...but my stag doesnt allow me to put the windows up when i have the car turned off or when the turbo timer is running...i can only put them up when the car is on....does anyone else have this problem or have i found the first fault of my baby??? :(

Might just be series 1 - 2 issue I think? I have an S1 and I need to have the ignition turned on to operate the windows and sunroofs...

Just went and checked to make sure.

Can definitely put the windows up and down after the ignition has been turned OFF and the keys removed. Not sure how long afterwards but I'd guess a few minutes.

The sunroofs wont open unless the ignition is on - its just the power windows.

Is this a S2 thing? or could it be my immobiliser??

    • Did you panel beat the dents or have you tried to repair this only using filler?  Is your sanding block soft/flexible and is following the shape of the panel rather then just knocking down the high points? 
    • I haven't knocked them down yet. I think I made the repair more complex than it should have been. I had rock chips combined with waviness and dents and I tackled it all in one because it was near each other and just end up wasting a bunch of bog lol. I'll knock down those areas and see how I go. And yep what you are saying at the end is correct. I think I might be sanding the top of a steep hill then my sanding block falls into the dent and gets rid of the guidecoat if that makes sense. Though shouldnt unless I'm covering too big of an area with not a long enough block. I'll try something new and provide some updates. Getting there though! Thanks as always.  
    • Yeah makes sense, hard to comment on your situation without seeing what your doing. I was talking generally before, I would not be looking to randomly create low spots with a hammer to then have to fill them.  It's hard without seeing what your doing, it sounds like you are using the guide coat to identify low spots, as you're saying the panel is still wavy. I don't see how you're not ending up with patches of guide coat remaining in a wavy panel? Once the high spots are knocked down to the correct level, surely to have a wavy panel you need low spots. And those low spots would have guide coat still in them?
    • So I'll put filler past the repair area a bit to make sure I don't miss anything. Then I'll block it until it's almost level, put the guidecoat, then keep blocking until it's gone. Then it's still wavy.  In regards to hitting the panel, I saw this video might give more context - Skip to 0:47 he knocks it down. But yeah I'm sanding until the guidecoat is gone then checking because otherwise my filler is still well above the bodyline. Unless what you're saying is I should put guidecoat around it early, surrounding the filler then stip once it's gone?
    • I refreshed the OEM injectors with the kit and connected it up. It now ideals okay even with the IACV removed. Driving still has the same cutoff issue like the 550cc injectors so the issue is somewhere else. I bought FPG's Fuel Pump Hanger. I will be installing it next, but it is not as straightforward as I thought it was with my limited wiring knowledge and no instruction on the specific model I purchased (FPG-089). I also got the incorrect billet clamp as I could not find info on the OEM sizing.
