FFS I will ban the next person that refers to their "Type M" as an "M Spec"... consider this... an "M Spec" is an R34 GTR variant, usually a whole $80,000 more expensive than an R33 GTS25t Type M.

m spec is surposed to mean sunroof in r33

that is the only difference that i know of and as an owner of one , when i was selling it , i got sick and tyred of people saying that theirs was a m spec when it had no sunroof! :)

yeah not all mspec are meant to have sunroofs, difference are within the brakes, the rims and the bodykit, mpsecs have 16 inches rims and normal sky's have 15s,

So by looking at a s2, how can i tell if it is a type m or not?

Do only series II skylines come type m??

My mate has a 93-95 skyline and i think his one is a Type M... It's got red coloured brakes ( do they all come red?? ), sunroof, and also i think only the Type M comes with the skyline writing on the back boot which lights up???

Anyone can correct me or confirm this?

"Type M' Is an options list available to all r32 and r33s.

It includes such things as body kits, 4 pot front brakes, adjustable front spoiler, and a bunch of other much less useful things; windscreen antenna, air purifier, illumous skyline garnish etc.

'Type S' were similar options available to the non turbo skylines

A list of these options is somewhere on the website.

Also, thanks for calling it typem, and not M spec.

jrocket,

yes, type m is an upper spec model that had some optional extras

BUT.. what you must realise is that >95% of skylines are in fact type M. And, even the non-type M cars have most of the options that the type M had anyway!

almost anything could be optioned in when bought new in japan, thus 5 different type M cars will all probably have different options, but will all be type M

at the end of the day, if a car is not advertised as type M, assume it is a type M unless stated otherwise. If you want to post pics up of the car, we can point out whether its one to steer clear of or not.

happy car hunting :P

    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.
    • Are you sure the gasket is blown? What are the issues? Thermocure is the only flush I've seen do anything with rust, very impressed with that, Prestone, rust will be by the pool having a cigarette.
    • And since the flush you have a blown head gasket? Have you lifted the head off yet?
