going through the list of skylines found here http://www.motortraders.net/imports/select.asp?make=Nissan

i noticed that there is an NM difference of around 30 between auto and manual models on the R34.

why is that?

I have also heard mention that there is a series 1 and series II in the R34 range? i couldnt find any details on that, can anybody help me?

thankyou.

The auto is less powerful as power is lost through the torque convertor in the automatic gearbox.

For differences in Series 1 and 2 R34s, check below:

Does anyone know if these S1 / S2 differences were passed on to the stagea S2 as well?

I'd be interested in finding out if the turbo is different for S2. Mine is a 1999 model and the turbo was definitely nylon. I say WAS - as I now have a nice BB, all-steel garrett GT30 turbo after my stock one began to make really bad noises (shaft play).

If the S2's really do have a metal compressor wheel and turbine, then surely this would be a good buying tip for people looking for an r34 - ie. look for a s2 one since they will handle more boost and the turbo will last longer.

Oh, and my stagea dash lights up orange, not white....but that's probably just a stagea thing.

Well thats just stretched my budget out. i might as well look at getting an evo VII.

Well i think i might definatly head for a manual now, as i didnt mind the tiptronic. I dont think the series II has enough difference to justify paying the extra money.

thanks for that!
